Frederick Douglass coach Murray Garvin started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Aveion Chenault, 6-2 Sr. Jaunte Jenkins, 6-2 Sr. Logan Busson, 6-1 Jr. Tate Robinson, and 6-4 Jr. DeMarcus Surratt. Bryan Station coach Champ Ligon countered with 6-3 Jr. Taeshawn Adams, 6-1 Jr. Amari Owens, 6-6 Sr. Antowone Burton, 5-11 Sr. Justin Richmond, and 5-11 Sr. Rashaad Faulkner.
Frederick Douglass trailed 31-19 in the third quarter but rallied to eke out a 49-48 victory over Bryan Station. There were two lead changes and one tie in this game. Frederick Douglass shot 44.7% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 19 Bryan Station turnovers. Bryan Station shot 36% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc. The Defenders connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Frederick Douglass turnovers.
DeMarcus Surratt led Frederick Douglass with 24 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, five rebounds, and three assists. Jaunte Jenkins added seven points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Tate Robinson recorded six points on two three point baskets and four rebounds. Aveion Chenault chipped in with five points, two blocked shots, and three steals. Logan Busson added four points and four rebounds.
Amari Owens led Bryan Station with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Taeshawn Adams added 10 points including four of four free throws, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Rashaad Faulkner recorded nine points on three three point baskets, five rebounds, and two steals. 6-7 Sr. Brunley Fon chipped in with six points and eight rebounds. Antowone Burton added four points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.
