Franklin County vs. Great Crossing December 7th Great Crossing High School

Franklin County coach Jonathan Moore started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Zachary Perry, 5-11 So. Kiyas White, 6-4 Sr. Andrew Chenault, 5-8 Sr. Dominick Taylor, and 5-11 Sr. Zac Cox. Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-7 Jr. Jeremiah Godfrey, 6-5 So. Vince Dawson III, 6-11 So. Malachi Moreno, 6-0 So. Christian Martin, and 6-4 So. Gage Richardson.

Great Crossing raced out to a 29-4 first quarter lead on their way to a 61-29 victory over Franklin County. Great Crossing shot 56.1% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 19 Franklin County turnovers. Franklin County shot 28.6% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc. The Flyers connected on three of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored six points off 11 Great Crossing turnovers.

Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 13 points, four rebounds, and four blocked shots. Gage Richardson added 12 points including three three point baskets. Vince Dawson III recorded 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and five steals. 6-3 Sr. DeJohn Blunt chipped in with seven points, four rebounds, and two steals. Christian Martin added seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.

The Bulldogs connected on 15 of 25 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Covington Holy Cross turnovers.

Jacob Meyer led Covington Holy Cross with 29 points including two three point baskets, and three rebounds. Jacob Smith added 17 points including three three point baskets. Javier Ward recorded 16 points, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Sam Gibson recorded seven points, 19 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

Kai Simpson led Frederick Douglass with 21 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Armelo Boone added 18 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 6-3 So. Aveion Chenault recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

Lafayette shot 52.6% from the field including seven of 12 from beyond the arc. The Generals connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 12 points off eight Scott County turnovers.

Nick Mosby led Scott County with 18 points including eight of eight free throws, seven rebounds, and three assists. DaQuis Brown added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocked shots. Lamarion McGrapth recorded 12 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.

Great Crossing defeated Covington Holy Cross by the score of 75-60. Great Crossing shot 57.9% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Covington Holy Cross turnovers. Covington Holy Cross shot 38.5% from the field including 10 of 30 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Great Crossing turnovers.


Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 23 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Malachi Moreno added 21 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots. 5-9 So. Junius Burrell recorded 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Christian Martin chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Gage Richardson added eight points including two three point baskets.


Jacob Meyer led Covington Holy Cross with 34 points including four three point baskets, 10 of 12 free throws, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Scott County shot 41.8% from the field including 11 of 36 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on five of six free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Covington Holy Cross turnovers.

The Warhawks connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored four points off five Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 38.7% from the field including three of 22 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Great Crossing turnovers.


Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Junius Burrell added 17 points including two three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, four rebounds, and five assists. Jeremiah Godfrey recorded 12 points and two rebounds. 6-5 So. Vince Dawson III chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, and six assists. DeJohn Blunt added 10 points.


Kai Simpson led Frederick Douglass with 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 5-9 So. Derion Talbert added nine points. Logan Busson recorded eight points, four rebounds, and two assists. Jack Ngog chipped in with seven points including two three point baskets. (Armelo Boone was limited to 4:13 minutes tonight-injury).
