Bethany Christian (24-4) vs. Lanesville (28-2) Class 1A Championship

Bethany Christian coach Krysten Parson started the following lineup: 5-10 Kiersten Todd, 5-7 Jr. Zoe Willems, 5-11 Jr. Eva Horning, 5-2 Jr. Mariah Stoltzfus, and 5-6 Sr. Kolette Kern. Lanesville coach Angie Hinton countered with 5-9 So. Hadley Crosier, 5-9 Sr. Linzie Wernert, 6-1 Sr. Morgan Sonner, 5-5 Jr. Ava Kerr, and 5-7 So. Hylton Brumley.

Lanesville took an early lead and never looked back in a 60-41 victory over Bethany Christian. This was an end to a journey as Angie Hinton took the helm of the program five years ago. Lanesville had experience 12 straight losing seasons and Coach Hinton is 116-19 during this period culminating in a championship.

Laneville shot 55.6% from the field including two of six from the three point line. The Eagles connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Bethany Christian. Bethany Christian shot 31.4% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc. The Bruins connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Lanesville turnovers.

Morgan Sonner led Lanesville with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Linzie Wernert added 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. 6-1 So. Shelby Allen recorded 11 points and five rebounds. Hadley Crosier chipped in with nine points, five assists, and four steals. Hylton Brumley dished out seven assists.

Zoe Willems led Bethany Christian with 17 points including six of eight free throws, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Maria Stoltzfus added 11 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists. Kiersten Todd recorded five points and six rebounds.

Lapel (22-8) vs. Forest Park (26-3) Class 2A Championship

Lapel coach Zach Newby started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Deannaya Haseman, 5-8 Jr. Madelyn Poynter, 6-0 Fr. Laniah Wills, 5-6 Sr. Kerith Renihan, and 5-7 Sr. Jaylee Hubble. Forest Park coach Tony Hasenour countered with 5-10 Sr. Lydia Betz, 5-9 Sr. Carly Begle, 6-1 Sr. Amber Tretter, 5-5 Sr. Danielle Eckert, and 5-9 Sr. Gabey Gray.

Amber Tretter hit a layup with nine seconds on the clock to give Forest Park a 38-37 victory and their second straight championship. Lapel had one last chance but Madelyn Poynter’s three point attempt at the buzzer failed to connect. Poynter had earlier connected on a three point basket with 19 seconds remaining to give Lapel a 37-36 lead before Tretter;s game winning shot. There were 10 lead changes and two ties in this game.

Forest Park shot 38.9% from the field including three of nine from the three point line. The Rangers connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Lapel turnovers. Lapel shot 35.1% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs connected on five of six free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored four points off 10 Forest Park turnovers.

Lydia Betz led Forest Park with 15 points including two three point baskets, two assists, and two steals. Amber Tretter added 13 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocked shots. Carley Begle recorded five points and seven rebounds.

Madelyn Poynter led Lapel with 15 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and two assists. Jaylee Hubble added nine points on three three point baskets and four rebounds. Laniah Wills recorded eight points, three rebounds, and two steals.

Fairfield (28-2) vs. Corydon Central (27-3) Class 3A Championship

Fairfield coach Brodie Garber started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Morgan Gawthrop, 5-6 Jr. Kaylee Dillon, 6-0 Sr. Brea Garber, 5-5 Sr. Delana Geiger, and 5-5 Sr. Bailey Willard. Corydon Central coach Josh Conrad countered with 5-11 Sr. Ava Weber, 5-10 Jr. Morgan Adams, 6-1 So. Alyssa Groover, 5-6 So. Josie Vaughn, and 5-6 Sr. Bailey Orme.

Fairfield’s top ranked defense came through in a 49-42 victory over Corydon Central. There were seven lead changes and two ties in this game. Fairfield shot 27.8% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line. The Falcons connected on 25 of 35 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 12 Corydon Central turnovers. Corydon Central shot 30.6% from the field including three of 26 from beyond the arc. The Panthers connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Fairfield turnovers.

Brea Garber led Fairfield with 19 points including 13 of 15 free throws, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocked shots. Morgan Gawthrop added 13 points including two three point baskets, 12 rebounds, and two steals. Bailey Willard recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, six of eight free throws, and three rebounds.

Ava Weber led Corydon Central with 23 points including nine of 11 free throws, 16 rebounds, and two steals. Josie Vaughn added seven points and three rebounds. 5-3 Sr. Bre Edwards recorded six points on two three point baskets. Alyssa Groover recorded two points, eight rebounds, and five blocked shots. Bailey Orme added four rebounds, eight assists, and four steals.

Fishers (26-3) vs. Bedford North Lawrence (27-3) Class 4A Championship

Fishers coach Lauren Votaw started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Hailey Smith, 5-10 Sr. Olivia Smith, 5-10 Sr. Alycia Triplett, 5-4 Jr. Joirdyn Smith, and 5-8 Jr. Talia Harris. Bedford North Lawrence coach Jeff Allen countered with 5-9 Sr. Mallory Pride, 5-9 Jr. Madisyn Bailey, 5-10 Jr. Chloe Spreen, 5-5 Sr. Emma Brown, and 5-6 Sr. Karsyn Norman.

Emma Brown hit a basket with 19.5 seconds and two free throws with 5.3 seconds to give Bedford North Lawrence a 46-42 victory over Fishers and their fifth state title. The score was tied nine times and there were five lead changes in the game. Bedford North Lawrence shot 42.5% from the field including zero of 11 from the three point line. The Stars connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Fishers turnovers. Fishers shot 31% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored seven points off eight Bedford North Lawrence turnovers.

Chloe Spreen led Bedford North Lawrence with 20 points and five rebounds. Mallory Pride added 11 points and three rebounds. Madisyn Bailey recorded seven points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Talia Harris led Fishers with 15 points including two three point baskets, and seven rebounds. Joirdyn Smith added eight points including two three point baskets. Alycia Triplett recorded six points, 12 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Hailey Smith chipped in with six points, six rebounds, and three assists.
