Franklin County coach Joey Thacker started the following lineup: 6-1 So. Rachel Shropshire, 5-10 Sr. Patience Laster, 6-4 Jr. Jhaven Meade, 5-5 Sr. Nevaeh Carter, and 6-0 Jr. Jazmin Chambers. Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-10 Sr. Olivia Cathers, 5-10 Fr. Savannah Simpson, 6-1 Sr. Anaya Brown, 5-1 Sr. Catherine Jacobs, and 5-5 Jr. Gracyn Grantz.
Franklin County trailed 15-14 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to defeat Lafayette by the score of 41-29. Lafayette had an excellent game plan but was not able to knock down the open shots. The score was tied three times and there were five lead changes in the game. Franklin County shot 32.6% from the field including one of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on 12 of 26 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot only 15.6% from the field including three of 22 from beyond the arc. The Generals connected on 12 of 16 from the free throw line, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Franklin County turnovers.
Patience Laster shot 11 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals. Jhaven Meade added eight points and 10 rebounds. Nevaeh Carter recorded seven points, nine rebounds, and five assists. 5-3 Fr. Leia Hogan chipped in with seven points and three steals.
Olivia Cathers led Lafayette with 13 points and eight rebounds. Anaya Brown added nine points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals. Gracyn Grantz recorded six points and three rebounds.
