Tecumseh (21-8) vs. Lafayette Central Catholic (24-5) Class A
Tecumseh coach Adam Lubbehusen started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Kaybree Oxley, 5-9 So. Jenna Donohoo, 5-11 Sr. Morgan Wilson, 5-5 Jr. Karsyn Flowers, and 5-9 Jr. Pennelope Lemen. Lafayette Central Catholic coach Craig DeVault countered with 5-7 Jr. Kendal Rider, 5-8 Jr. Tori Thompson, 5-7 Sr. Karsyn Cherry, 5-8 Fr. Carley Barrett, and 5-9 Sr. Caitlin Dineen.
Tecumseh defeated Lafayette Central Catholic by the score of 60-53 for the championship in their first state final. The score was tied 41-41 after three quarters but Tecumseh’s Karsyn Flowers nailed a three point basket to break the tie and trigger an 11-0 run that allowed Tecumseh to take control of the game. The Braves missed some free throws down the stretch but Lafayette Central Catholic was never able to catch up. Tecumseh did not have an easy path to their championship as they had to defeat #1 Waldron, #2 Lanesville, and finally #3 today Lafayette Central Catholic to earn the title. The score was tied eight times and there were 11 lead changes in today’s game.
Tecumseh shot 40.7% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line. The Braves connected on 10 of 22 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored nine points off 15 Lafayette Central Catholic turnovers. Tecumseh held a 40-26 advantage in points scored in the paint. Lafayette Central Catholic shot 33.3% from the field including six of 28 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on seven of 11 free throws, and scored 17 points off 15 Tecumseh turnovers.
Jenna Donohoo led Tecumseh with 29 points including five of eight free throws, 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Kaybree Oxley added 19 points, 11 rebounds, four steals, and four blocked shots. Karsyn Flowers recorded nine points including two three point baskets, eight assists, and two steals.
Carley Barrett added Lafayette Central Catholic with 17 points including five of seven free throws, four rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and four steals. Kendal Rider added 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Caitlin Dineen recorded 14 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds. Tori Thompson chipped in with six points on two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists. Karsyn Cherry added two points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.

Forest Park (26-3) vs. Frankton (23-6) Class 2A
Forest Park coach Tony Hasenour started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Lydia Betz, 5-9 Jr. Carley Begle, 6-1 Jr. Amber Tretter, 5-8 Sr. Ali Welp, and 5-9 Jr. Gabey Gray. Frankton coach Stephan Hamaker countered with 5-8 Sr. Lauryn Bates, 5-7 So. Amaya Collins, 6-0 So. Emma Sperry, 5-2 Sr. Cagney Utterback, and 5-5 Sr. Bailee Webb.
Forest Park captured their first championship with a 52-44 victory over Frankton. There were six lead changes and two ties in this game. Frankton had no answer for 6-1 Amber Tretter today as she recorded 22 points and 17 rebounds. Forest Park shot 40.5% from the field including four of nine from the three point line. The Rangers connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and did not score off five Frankton turnovers. Frankton shot 32% from the field including nine of 27 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on three of five free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored four points off 10 Forest Park turnovers.
Amber Tretter led Forest Park with 22 points including seven of eight free throws, 17 rebounds, three assists, six blocked shots, and two steals. Carley Begle added seven points, five rebounds, and four assists. Lydia Betz recorded seven points including four of six free throws. Gabey Gray chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
Amaya Collins led Frankton with 15 points on five three point baskets. Lauryn Bates added nine points on three three point baskets, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Bailee Webb recorded seven points. Emma Sperry chipped in with six points and six rebounds.

Silver Creek (26-3) vs. South Bend Washington (27-3) Class 3A
Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Kynidi Mason Striverson, 5-9 Sr. Emme Rooney, 6-0 Sr. Merideth Wilkinson, 5-6 Sr. Sydney Sierota, and 5-9 Sr. Lacey Tingle. South Bend Washington coach Steve Reynolds countered with 6-3 Sr. Mila Reynolds, 6-0 Jr. Amiyah Reynolds, 6-3 Fr. Kira Reynolds, 5-7 Fr. Ryiah Wilson, and 5-8 Jr. Rashaunda Jones.
South Bend totally dominated tonight in a 93-35 victory over Silver Creek to gain a bit of revenge for their loss to Silver Creek in last year’s championship game. To make matters worse for Silver Creek they lost Emme Rooney early in the game to an injury. South Bend Washington shot 53% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 54 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 18 Silver Creek turnovers. Silver Creek shot 24.5% from the field including one of 17 from beyond the arc. The Dragons connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored six points off 14 South Bend Washington turnovers.
Mila Reynolds led South Bend Washington with 21 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Kira Reynolds added 17 points, 24 rebounds (tourney record), two assists, and four blocked shots. Rashaunda Jones recorded 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 5-11 Fr. Monique Mitchell chipped in with 14 points including two three point baskets. Amirah Reynolds added eight points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.
Kynidi Mason Striverson led Silver Creek with 10 points including six of six free throws, and five rebounds. Lacey Tingle added nine points and three steals.

Franklin Community (28-2) vs. Noblesville (25-4) Class 4A

Noblesville outscore Franklin Community 29-15 in the second quarter on their way to a 76-52 victory. Noblesville shot 54.7% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line. The Millers connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 Franklin Community turnovers. Franklin Community shot A special thanks to the 29.4% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc. The Grizzly Cubs connected on 16 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Noblesville turnovers.
Ashlynn Shade led Noblesville with 31 points including five of five free throws, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Reagan Wilson added 12 points including two three point baskets, seven assists, and two steals. 5-9 So. Ava Shoemaker recorded 12 points including two three point baskets. 5-11 Jr. Dani Mendez chipped in with nine points including five of six free throws, eight rebounds, and two assists. Kaitlyn Shoemaker added seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Ashlyn Traylor led Franklin Community with 18 points including five of five free throws, six rebounds, and two steals. Scarlett Kimbrell added eight points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four steals. Erica Buening recorded eight points including two three point baskets and three rebounds. 5-7 Jr. Adelyn Walker chipped in with eight points and two rebounds. Kuryn Brunson added six points, six rebounds, and two assists.

This was a very impressive day of basketball with a lot of individual talent on display. I was also impressed with the size and athleticism of these young ladies with several players over 6-0 displaying both inside and outside skills several of these ladies today will be playing at the next level.
