11th Region Basketball Tournament (Semifinal)

Lafayette coach Allison Tate Denton started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Olivia Cathers, 5-7 So. Kiley Noble, 6-1 Jr. Anaya Brown, 5-1 Jr. Catherine Jacobs, and 5-6 Jr. Lauren Walton.  Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis countered with 5-11 Jr. Macie Daniels, 5-7 Sr. Lacie Parks, 6-0 Jr. Reece Estep, 5-6 Jr. Morgan Flannery, and 5-7 Sr. Samantha Cornelison.

 

The score was tied 28-28 after three quarters but Lafayette rallied in the final quarter to earn a 51-40 victory over Madison Southern.  The score was tied 10 times and there were five lead changes in the game.  Lafayette shot 41.7% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 16 of 20 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored two points off four Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 21.3% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 16 of 21 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Lafayette turnovers.

 

Anaya Brown led Lafayette with 16 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Lauren Walton added 12 points including two three point baskets and four of four free throws.  5-5 So. Gracyn Grantz recorded 11 points including two of two free throws, and six rebounds.  Olivia Cathers chipped in with nine points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Catherine Jacobs added three points, four rebounds, and five assists.

 

Samantha Cornelison led Madison Southern with 20 points including three three point baskets, nine of 10 free throws, eight rebounds, and two assists.  Reece Estep added seven points and 11 rebounds.  Lacie Parks recorded seven points and two rebounds.

Franklin County advance to the championship on a forfeit because Of COVID issues with Tates Creek.
