Austin Peay State University coach Matt Figger started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Terry Taylor, 6-3 So. Jordyn Adams, 6-8 So. Mike Peake, 5-10 So. Carlos Paez, and 6-3 GS Reginald Gee. Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton countered with 6-7 So. Michael Moreno, 6-5 Fr. Curt Lewis, 6-9 Jr. Tre King, 5-11 Fr. Wendell Green Jr., and 6-1 Jr. Cooper Robb.
Eastern Kentucky led 49-38 in the second half but needed key blocks in the following minute by Devontae Blanton and Michael Moreno to earn a 70-67 victory over Austin Peay. There were three ties and 15 lead changes in this game. Eastern Kentucky shot 42.4% from the field including eight of 22 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Austin Peay turnovers. Austin Peay shot 45.8% from the field including three of 17 from beyond the arc. The Governors connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Wendell Green Jr. led Eastern Kentucky with 23 points including three three point baskets, six of seven free throws, three rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Tre King added 17 points including four of five free throws, and seven rebounds. Cooper Robb recorded 11 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 6-6 Fr. Devontae Blanton chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds.
Terry Taylor led Austin Peay with 19 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Mike Peake added 13 points and seven rebounds. Reginald Gee recorded 11 points and Carlos Paez added nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.
