Woodford County vs. Madison Central (Girls)

Woodford County coach Erik Daniels started the following lineup: 5-6 Fr. Jocelynn Edwards, 5-7 Jr. Makenzie Karo, 5-11 Sr. Devan Champion, 5-1 Sr. Halee Hood, and 5-5 Fr. Niah Rhodes.  Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 Fr. Bailey Hensley, 5-10 Sr. Raelynn Miller, 5-11 Sr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-4 So. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Sr. Brianna Bierbaum.

 

Eden Carter hit a put back shot with approximately six seconds remaining in the game and Woodford County missed a last second shot as Madison Central escaped with a 64-62 victory.  Madison Central led by 11 with 5:28 left in the game and managed to hold on for the victory.  There were seven ties and four lead changes in the game.  Madison Central shot 35.5% from the field including one of seven from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 19 of 34 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 30 points off 25 Woodford County turnovers.  Woodford County shot 40.9% from the field including eight of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Yellow Jackets connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Bailey Hensley led Madison Central with 27 points including five of eight free throws, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals.  5-5 Fr. Eden Carter added 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and seven steals.  5-4 8th Grade Brittany Campbell recorded eight points including six of eight free throws, and six rebounds.  Eve Carter chipped in with six points, nine rebounds, and four steals.

 

Niah Rhodes led Woodford County with 24 points including six three point baskets, four of four free throws, and three rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Devan Champion added 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Halee Hood recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, four of six free throws, and two rebounds.  Mackenzie Karo added 10 points including six of six free throws, seven rebounds, and eight assists.
