Ashland Blazer vs. Bowling Green (Boys)

Bowling Green High School

Bowling Green, KY

January 30, 2021

Kudos to Ashland Coach Jason Mays and Bowling Green Coach DJ Sherrill for putting together this game in difficult times.  Coach Mays agreed to make the trip because Bowling Green had already agreed to host Somerset the night before.  Ashland Blazer came out on fire connecting on five first quarter three point baskets and held a 27-17 lead early in the second quarter and still led 30-24 before Bowling Green finished the quarter on a 20-4 run to lead at halftime by the score of 44-34.  It was all Bowling Green in the second half as they pulled away for an 83-57 victory over Ashland Blazer.  Bowling Green shot 50.9% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Purples connected on 23 of 26 free throws and pulled down 32 rebounds.

5-11 Jr. Turner Buttry led Bowling Green with 29 points including 16 of 16 free throws.  6-4 Sr. Isaiah Mason added 18 points and seven rebounds.  5-9 Jr. Willie Wilson recorded 14 points including three three point baskets.  6-2 Sr. Jaxon Flanary chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Conner Cooper also scored nine points.

6-2 Jr. Cole Villers led Ashland with 15 points including three three point baskets.  6-1 Jr. Ethan Sellars added 12 points including two three point baskets.  5-11 So. Colin Porter recorded 11 points.  6-2 Fr. Zander Carter chipped in with six points on two three point baskets.  6-1 So. Asher Atkins also recorded six points.
