North Laurel coach Nate Valentine started the following lineup: 6-4 So. Ryan Davidson, 6-3 So. Reed Sheppard, 6-2 Jr. Caden Harris, 5-11 Jr. Clay Sizemore, and 6-0 So. Brody Brock. Madison Southern coach Austin Newton countered with 6-2 Sr. Trent DeVries, 6-1 So. Jay Rose. 6-4 So. Brett Erslan, 5-7 So. Zach Hudson, and 5-8 Jr. Walt Smith.
North Laurel pulled away in the second quarter to lead 43-25 at halftime on their way to an 82-58 victory over Madison Southern. North Laurel shot 46% from the field including 13 of 30 from the three point line. The Jaguars connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 36 points off 24 Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 35.7% from the field including seven of 29 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 24 North Laurel turnovers.
North Laurel’s Soph. Reed Sheppard came in with a lofty rep and proved it to be well deserved as he led the Jaguars with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists, three blocked shots, and seven steals. Brody Brock led North Laurel in scoring with 20 points including five three point baskets, six rebounds, and four steals. Ryan Davidson recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds. Clay Sizemore chipped in with 15 points on five three point baskets, two assists, and two steals.
Zach Hudson led Madison Southern with 15 points including two three point baskets, nine rebounds, and four steals. Jay Rose added 12 points and four rebounds. Trent DeVries recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and four steals. Brett Erslan chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.
