Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Bella Moberly, 5-7 Sr. Lacie Parks, 6-0 Jr. Reece Estep, 5-6 Jr. Morgan Flannery, and 5-7 Sr. Samantha Cornelison. Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 Sr. Raelynn Miller, 5-7 So. Chloe Freeman. 5-10 Sr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-4 So. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Sr. Bri Bierbaum.
Madison Central started the season 3-0 but Madison Southern brought them crashing back to earth with a 57-31 defeat. Samantha Cornelison shredded their defense with seven three point baskets and Reece Estep owned the boards with 16 rebounds. Madison Central could not get their offense untracked tonight as they only shot 23.9% from the field. Madison Southern shot 37% from the field including 11 of 27 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 23.9% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Madison Southern turnovers.
Samantha Cornelison led Madison Southern with 25 points including seven three point baskets, five rebounds, and three assists. Lacie Parks added eight points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. Morgan Flannery recorded seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. 5-4 7th Grade Hadley French chipped in with six points on two three point baskets, two assists, and two steals. Reece Estep added four points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
5-10 Fr. Bailey Hensley led Madison Central with eight points and five rebounds. Gretchen Hammitt and Bri Bierbaum each recorded six points on two three point baskets. Chloe Freeman chipped in with five points. Eve Carter added four points, three rebounds, four assists, and six steals.
