Eastern Kentucky University vs. Memphis (Women)

Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Bria Bass, 5-8 Sr. Shay Solomon, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Qay Stanton, and 5-7 Jr. De’Ayra Davis.  Memphis coach Melissa McFerrin countered with 6-3 Fr. Lanetta Williams, 6-0 Jr. Keke Hunter, 6-4Jr. Dulcy Mendjiadeu Fankam, 5-6 So. Jamirah Shutes, and 5-8 Sr. Gazmyne Herndon.

 

Eastern Kentucky rallied from a 38-33 deficit after three quarters to earn a 63-60 victory over Memphis.  There were six ties and five lead changes in this game.  Poor free throw shooting doomed Memphis as they only connected on 12 of 26 free throws.  Eastern Kentucky University shot 29.2% from the field including four of 26 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Memphis turnovers.  Memphis shot 30.3% from the field including eight of 26 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 12 of 26 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

Bria Bass led Eastern Kentucky University with 13 points including two three point baskets and eight rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Teri Goodlett added 12 points including two three point baskets and three assists.  I’Liyah Green recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.  De’Ayra Davis chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.  6-1 Fr. Anysa Jordan added six points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

 

Jamirah Shutes led Memphis with 23 points including four three point baskets, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  5-9 Fr. Madison Griggs added 11 points including three three point baskets.  Lanetta Williams pulled down seven rebounds and blocked three shots.  Keke Hunter pulled down nine rebounds.
