Eastern Kentucky University coach A.W. Hamilton started the following lineup: 6-8 Fr. Tre King, 6-4 Fr. Houston King, 6-9 Sr. Nick Mayo, 5-10 Jr. Dujuanta Weaver, and 6-2 Fr. Jomaru Brown.  Tennessee Tech University coach Steve Payne countered with 6-8 Sr. Courtney Alexander, 6-7 Fr. Garrett Golday, 6-9 Jr. Micaiah Henry, 6-0 Fr. Jr. Clay, and 6-4 Jr. Hunter Vick.

 

Eastern Kentucky University held on down the stretch to defeat Tennessee Tech University by the score of 67-66.  Tennessee Tech had their late opportunities but could not get the shots to fall.  Nick Mayo was saddled with two early fouls and was scoreless in the first half.  Mayo eventually fouled out and was limited to 16 minutes of playing time.  The score was tied once and there were four lead changes in this game.

 

Eastern Kentucky University shot 34.4% from the field including six of 24 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Tennessee Tech turnovers.  Tennessee Tech shot 32.8% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 21 of 28 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Eastern Kentucky University turnovers.

 

Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky University with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Jomaru Brown added 13 points including seven of nine free throws and seven rebounds.  Tre King recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.  6-8 Jr. Lachlan Anderson added nine points and three rebounds.

 

6-5 Fr. Jared Sherfield led Tennessee Tech with 19 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and two assists.  Micaiah Henry added 16 points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Jr. Clay recorded 14 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Hunter Vick chipped in with 11 points including seven of eight free throws and six rebounds.  Courtney Alexander pulled down 14 rebounds.
