Clay County defeated Pike County Central by a score of 80-72 in a game that featured good shooting and a barrage of three point baskets.  Clay County enjoyed a 19-4 advantage in free throw points.  Clay County star guard Kaylee Mathis reached a milestone tonight as she reached the 2,000 point plateau for her career in her career and she is only a junior.

 

Clay County shot 59.5% from the field including 11 of 19 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 19 of 23 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and committed 21 turnovers.  Pike County Central shot 50.8% from the field including eight of 17 from beyond the arc.  Pike County Central connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.

 

5-8 Sr. Shelby Phillips led Clay County with 22 points including six three point baskets, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  5-9 Jr. Kaylee Mathis added 19 points including three three point baskets, six of six free throws, five rebounds, four steals, and three assists.  5-4 So. Taylor Asher recorded 17 points including seven of nine free throws and three assists.  5-9 Sr. Summer Parker also reached double figures with 17 points.

 

4-10 Sr. Cassidy Mullins led Pike County Central with 23 points.  5-6 Bailey Burchfield added 22 points and 5-5 Sr. Haley Boyd chipped in with 11 points.

Clay County (80) – Mathis 19, Asher 17, Parker 17, Phillips 22, Mills 3, Lewis 2.
