Central vs. Corbin

Central defeated Corbin by a score of 20-19. Central trailed 6-0 at halftime but outscored Corbin 20-7 in the third quarter to take a 20-13 lead after three quarters. Chase Estep scored on a 3 yard run to pull Corbin within one point; 20-19 with 3:54 to go in the game. Corbin elected to go for two instead of kicking the extra point but Estep was stopped short. Corbin had one last chance when Justin Brummett blocked a punt and Corbin recovered at Central’s 27 with nine seconds on the clock. After a pass incompletion Will Childers attempted a 44 yard field goal attempt that barely cleared the line of scrimmage. Corbin won the battle of the stats but Central kept the ball in the hands of Malik Goodall who made the big plays on offense and also ran for a crucial 2-point conversions.
Central recorded 11 first downs and 215 yards of total offense. The Yellow Jackets were penalized nine times for 143 yards and had a pass intercepted. Corbin recorded 18 first downs and 349 yards of total offense. The Redhounds were penalized six times for 50 yards and lost a fumble.
Malik Goodall led Central’s ground game with 84 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Mykah Williams carried the ball 10 times for 59 yards. Malik Goodall completed four of nine passes for 75 yards. Ukari Baker caught two passes for 27 yards. Malcom Hayes and Mykah Williams each caught a pass for 27 and 21 yards respectively. Mykah Williams returned one kickoff for 35 yards. Durrell Howard led the defense with eight solo and eight assisted tackles with 4.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 12 yards. Cordan Lapradd added five solo and two assisted tackles. Jacobe Daugherty recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling two yards. Ben Johnson recovered a fumble.
Chase Estep led Corbin’s ground game with 95 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Nick Yeager carried the ball five times for 30 yards. Treyveon Longmire added 17 yards on two carries. Grant Gibson carried the ball six times for 10 yards and a touchdown. Chase Estep completed 10 of 24 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown. Devyn Sams caught three passes for 67 yards. Treyveon Longmire caught one pass for 59 yards and a touchdown. Grant Gibson led the defense with five solo and six assisted tackles. Nate Smith added three solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss. Justin Brummett recorded three solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Cameron Maguet intercepted a pass.
