Highlands vs. Covington Catholic

Covington Catholic led 7-0 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to defeat Highlands by a score of 36-0. Covington Catholic recorded 17 first downs and 405 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized five times for 61 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted. Highlands recorded six first downs and 79 yards of total offense. The Bluebirds were penalized three times for 32 yards and lost a fumble.
C. McGinness led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 201 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries. C. Jacob completed nine of 16 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown with one interception. M. Mayer caught six passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. J. Coldiron added one reception for 26 yards. C. McGinness returned three punts for 51 yards with a long return of 41 yards. J. Schuh returned one kickoff for 31 yards. M. Mayer led the defense with 12 solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards and recovered a fumble. J. Shriver added five solo and one assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 19 yards.
C. Schwalbach led Highland’s ground game with 27 yards on 11 carries. J. Buten carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards. G. Cramer completed five of 14 passes for 36 yards. N. Roberts caught two passes for 18 yards. H. Ahlfeld added two receptions for 10 yards. B. Huddleston returned two kickoffs for 40 yards with a long return of 27 yards. J. Buten returned two kickoffs for 45 yards with a long return of 24 yards. J. Brass led the defense with nine solo tackles. A. Reynolds added eight solo tackles. J. Hagedorn recorded five solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 25 yards and intercepted one pass he returned 20 yards.
