11th Region Tournament Championship

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Cooper Robb, 6-1 Jr. Bryce Long, 6-7 Jr. Michael Moreno, 5-9 Jr. Diablo Stewart, and 5-11 Jr. Glenn Covington.  Lexington Christian Academy coach Nate Valentine countered with 6-7 Sr. Carter Hendricksen, 6-7 Jr. Kyle Rode, 6-6 Sr. Austin Hall, 6-0 Jr. Pearce Dalton, and 6-2 Jr. Will Hacker.

 

Cooper Robb hit two free throws with 10 seconds left on the clock to give Scott County a 46-44 lead and Scott County escaped with a victory when LCA’s Will Hacker’s good look at a potential game winning three pointer bounced off the rim in the closing seconds.  There were eight ties and eight lead changes in the game and the game was punctuated by tenacious defense.  LCA caught a tough break when Carter Hendricksen left the game not to return with 6:27 remaining in the third quarter and LCA clinging to a 26-23 lead.

 

Scott County shot 35.3% from the field including three of 21 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 19 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 41.2% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Scott County turnovers.

 

Michael Moreno led Scott County with 21 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and seven steals.  Cooper Robb added 15 points.  Glenn Covington only scored one point put pulled down seven rebounds, dished out four assists, and recorded three steals.

 

Kyle Rode led LCA with 18 points including seven of eight free throws, eight rebounds, and three assists.  Carter Hendricksen added 11 points and four rebounds.  Austin Hall recorded five points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots.
