Clay County vs. Lexington Catholic (Boys)

Clay County coach Glenn Gray started the following lineup: 6-2 So. Jacob Curry, 6-2 Fr. Connor Robinson, 6-4 Sr. Ryan Rogers, 5-10 So. Jakob Begley, and 5-10 Sr. Timothy Bowling.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Zan Payne, 6-3 Sr. TC Price, 6-7 Sr. Max Sparkman, 5-11 Jr. Javen Hardin, and 6-0 Sr. Keegan Bailey.

 

Lexington Catholic outscored Clay County 25-10 in the final quarter to earn a 57-40 come-from-behind victory.  The score was tied six times and there were five lead changes in the game.  Lexington Catholic shot 48.9% from the field including nine of 24 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on two of six free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 20 Clay County turnovers.  Clay County shot 36.7% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers were zero of one from the free throw line, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

6-1 Fr. Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 19 points including six three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Javen Hardin added 11 points and three steals.  TC Price recorded nine points, four assists, and three steals.

 

Connor Robinson led Clay County with 16 points including two three point baskets.  Ryan Rogers added eight points and five rebounds.  Jacob Curry recorded seven points, four rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
