Southwestern vs. Lafayette (Girls)

Southwestern coach Stephen Butcher II started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Kallie Sheron, 5-8 So. Kennedy Harris, 5-10 So. Regi Cundiff, 5-4 So. Jenna Wood, and 5-6 Fr. Alexa Smiddy.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-9 Sr. Caroline Bennett, 5-7 Jr. Lindi DeBilzan, 5-9 Sr. Tekiya Garr-Carter, 5-3 Sr. Terri Abram, and 5-8 Fr. Rylie Grantz.

 

Lafayette led 37-25 in the third quarter and survived a Southwestern come back attempt to earn a 57-55 victory in a good early season matchup between two good teams.  Lafayette shot 60.6% from the field including zero of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 17 of 20 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Southwestern turnovers.  Southwestern shot 40% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Warriors connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Teri Abram led Lafayette with 17 points including 11 of 13 free throws.  Caroline Bennett added 14 points including seven of eight from the field and pulled down six rebounds.  Lindi DeBilzan recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Tekiya Garr-Carter added nine points, five rebounds, and four steals.

 

Kennedy Harris led Southwestern with 16 points including two three point baskets.  Regi Cundiff added 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Kallie Sheron chipped in with six points and five rebounds.
