Harlan vs. Harlan County (Girls)

13th Region Tournament (Championship)

Corbin Arena

Corbin, KY

March 4, 2017

Harlan overcame a lot of adversity this season to even reach the championship game but they overcame all these odds and defeated Harlan County by a score of 59-52.  They graduated two key players from last year, lost another key frontcourt player Emma Bianchi with an injury early in the season and had already lost three games this year to Harlan County.  Harlan star Jordan Brock got off to a cold start from the field but her teammates stepped up until she got back in the flow of the game.

Harlan shot 36.4% from the field including 10 of 24 from the three point line.  The Lady Dragons connected on 17 of 19 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.  Harlan County shot 38.5% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bears connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.

5-5 Sr. Jordan Brock led Harlan with 29 points including 15 of 17 free throws.  5-6 Jr. Taylor Simpson added 12 points including three three point baskets.  5-7 Jr. Noah Canady chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.  5-10 Jr. Brandi Haywood pulled down nine rebounds.

6-0 Jr. Kaylea Gross led Harlan County with 29 points and 11 rebounds.  6-0 Jr. Blair Green added 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
