Austin Peay coach David Midlick started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Beth Rates, 5-10 So. Keisha Gregory, 6-2 Sr. Tearra Banks, 5-4 Jr. Bri Williams, and 5-8 So. Falon Baker. Eastern Kentucky coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 5-11 So. Abby Wright, 5-11 Sr. Shavontae Naylor, 6-1 Sr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-5 Sr. Mariah Massengill, and 5-8 Sr. Alexus Calhoun.
Austin Peay led by 13 points in the second quarter and 36-27 at halftime but Eastern Kentucky rallied in the second half to earn an 80-71 victory. The score was tied twice and there were five lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot a sizzling 75% (12-16) and 61.5% (8-13) from the field in the third and fourth quarters respectively. Eastern Kentucky shot 57.1% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored four points off seven Austin Peay turnovers. Austin Peay shot 41.4% from the field including five of 11 from beyond the arc. The Governors connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Shavontae Naylor led Eastern Kentucky with 23 points and seven rebounds. Jalen O’Bannon also scored 23 points and blocked three shots. Alexus Cooper recorded 14 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three assists. Mariah Massengill chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.
Tearra Banks led Austin Peay with 30 points including 10 of 11 free throws, five rebounds, and three steals. Bri Williams added 10 points including two three point baskets and four assists. 5-10 Jr. Sydney Gooch recorded nine points, three rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots.
