Week Thirteen in Review Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl Playoffs November 18, 2016

 

Friday November 18th

 

Class A Playoffs

 

Beechwood 42  Kentucky Country Day 7Aiden Justice carried the ball 22 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Hazard 42  Pikeville 19Cory Smith carried the ball 37 times for 279 yards and five touchdowns.

 

Paintsville 21  Raceland 14Kent Phelps carried the ball 23 times for 164 yards and a touchdown.

 

Russellville 48 Bethlehem 12Johnny Drumgole carried the ball nine times for 194 yards and three touchdowns and Jaylyn McMurry added 153 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.

 

Class 2A Playoffs

 

Christian Academy of Louisville 21  DeSales 14Anteneh Thompson score on a fourth-and-one from the one yard line to earn the victory.

 

Danville 34  Lexington Christian Academy 28Zack Dampier completed 18 of 26 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns and Dmauriae VanCleve scored on a 97 yard interception return and a 99 yard kickoff return to lead Danville that ended LCA’s undefeated season.

 

Covington Holy Cross 26  Newport Central Catholic 21

Mayfield 28  Owensboro Catholic 6

 

Class 3A Playoffs

 

Central 30  Lexington Catholic 7James Simpson completed 11 of 21 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns and C. Jones (15 carries for 111 yards) and Corey Johnson (28 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns) led Central to a victory.

 

Elizabethtown 35  Caldwell County 10 – Jay Becherer sparked Elizabethtown with an 85 yard interception return for a touchdown.

Class 4A Playoffs

 

Franklin-Simpson 33  South Warren 16Jackson Caudill passed for 278 yards to lead Franklin-Simpson to victory.

 

Johnson Central 51  Ashland Blazer 0Joe Jackson carried the ball 12 times for 181 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Wayne County 30  Mercer County 14Lorenzo Linsey carried the ball 25 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns and completed 1o of 18 passes for 117 yards and one touchdown to lead the Cardinals.

 

John Hardin 52  Shelby County 31

 

Class 5A Playoffs

 

Bowling Green 50  Owensboro 21 Clark Payne completed 19 of 25 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Fern Creek 35  Covington Catholic 28Kyree Hawkins carried the ball 22 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns and recorded 11 tackles to lead Fern Creek.

 

Pulaski County 41  Southwestern 27Wiley Cain completed 12 of 26 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

 

South Oldham 45  North Bullitt 42 – Cooper Cantrell kicked a field goal in the final seconds for the victory.  Drew Zaubi completed 19 of 30 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Class 6A Playoffs

 

Lafayette 63  Simon Kenton 41Cameron Morgan carried the ball 32 times for 250 yards and two touchdowns and Walker Wood carried the ball 24 times for 112 yards and three touchdowns and completed 12 of 22 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns to lead Lafayette.

 

Scott County 42  Ryle 40Jacob Burton carried the ball 24 times for 155 yards and four touchdowns to lead Scott County.  Jacob Chisholm carried the ball 24 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 64 yards and one touchdown and Tanner Morgan completed 20 of 30 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns to lead Ryle.

 

St. Xavier 31  Male 21Sam Taylor carried the ball 27 times for 154 yards and Desmond Ridder carried the ball 15 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns to lead St. Xavier.

 

Trinity 63  Ballard 20Jovan Smith carried the ball 19 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns to lead Trinity.
