Murray State coach Matt McMahon started the following lineup; 6-5 Jr. Gee McGhee, 6-4 Sr. Jeffery Moss, 6-7 Sr. Wayne Langston, 6-0 Jr. Bryce Jones, and 6-4 Jr. Damarcus Croaker. Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-5 Jr. Javontae Hawkins, 6-9 Fr. Nick Mayo, 6-1 So. Paul Jackson, and 6-2 Jr. Isaac McGlone.
Justin Seymour hit a three point basket with 22 seconds left in the game to give Murray State what proved to be the winning basket in a 75-71 victory over Eastern Kentucky University. The score was tied 10 times and there were nine lead changes in this game. Murray State shot 47.2% from the field including nine of 20 from the three point line. The Racers connected on 16 of 21 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 12 Eastern Kentucky University turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 54.5% from the field including seven of 15 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 16 of 18 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Murray State turnovers.
Wayne Langston led Murray State with 18 points and eight rebounds. Damarcus Croaker also scored 18 points including three three point baskets. 6-3 Jr. Justin Seymour recorded 12 points on four three point baskets. Gee McGhee chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Bryce Jones added nine points and eight assists. Jeffery Moss recorded seven points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky University with 22 points. Jarelle Reischel added 21 points including three three point baskets. Javontae Hawkins recorded 15 points including eight of eight free throws. Paul Jackson chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists. Isaac McGlone pulled down seven rebounds.
