Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray, 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-8 Jr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter.  SIUE coach Paula Buscher countered with 5-9 So. Donshel Beck, 5-8 So. Lauren White, 5-11 So. Gwen Adams, 5-7 Sr. Shronda Butts, and 5-8 So. Sidney Smith.

 

SIUE outscored Eastern Kentucky 19-5 in the second quarter on their way to an 89-74 victory.  SIUE shot 51.6% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line.  The Cougars connected on 19 of 24 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 48.4% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 15 SIUE turnovers.

 

Shronda Butts led SIUE with 24 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.  Gwen Adams added 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  5-7 Sr. CoCo Moore chipped in with 16 points on eight of ten from the field.  Donshel Beck recorded 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals.  5-8 Fr. Amri Wilder also reached double figures with 10 points including two three point baskets.

 

Jalen O’Bannon led Eastern Kentucky with 30 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.  Alexus Cooper and 5-11 Fr. Abby Wright each scored nine points.  Michaela Hunter added eight points and four assists.  Shameekia Murray recorded seven points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
