Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Scott Chalk started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Darius Williams, 6-3 Sr. Justin Kelley, 6-5 Jr. Dontell Brown, 6-0 Sr. Jordan Lewis, and 6-2 Jr. Taveion Hollingsworth.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 So. Zan Payne, 6-1 Sr. Joseph Ogbogu, 6-5 Jr. Peter Whitman, 6-0 Sr. Donovan Morris, and 6-3 Jr. Luke Johnson.

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar eked out a 63-62 road victory over Lexington Catholic tonight.  There were seven lead changes and nine ties in this game.  LexCath trailed 63-62 with 38 seconds left in the game with JJ Ogbogu at the free throw line.  Ogbogu missed both free throws bur the Knight had one last chance but Donovan Morris’ last second shot was partially blocked.

 

Dunbar shot 49.1% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 41.4% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Dunbar turnovers.

 

Darius Williams led Dunbar with 31 points including two three point baskets and three steals.  Taveion Hollingsworth added 18 points and seven rebounds.

 

Luke Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 25 points.  Donovan Morris added 20 points including three three point baskets.  Zan Payne recorded nine points and nine rebounds.
