Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-5 Jr. Javontae Hawkins,  6-9 Fr. Nick Mayo, 6-1 So. Paul Jackson, and 6-2 Jr. Isaac McGlone.  Western Kentucky University coach Ray Harper countered with 6-7 Sr. Nigel Snipes, 6-3 Sr. Aaron Cosby, 6-7 So. Justin Johnson, 6-0 Fr. Chris McNeal, and 6-0 Jr. Chris Harrison-Docks.

 

Justin Johnson hit a three pointer at the buzzer to give Western Kentucky University an 86-84 victory over Eastern Kentucky University.  Eastern Kentucky fell behind by 19 points early in the first half but rallied to take the lead 84-83 late in the game setting the stage for Johnson’s late heroics.  The score was tied four times and there were 10 lead changes in the game.

 

Western Kentucky shot 54,4% from the field including 14 of 26 from the three point line.  The Hilltoppers connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 11 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 50.8% from the field including 15 of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 15 Western Kentucky turnovers.

 

Aaron Cosby led Western Kentucky with 26 points including eight three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.  Justin Johnson added 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Chris O’Neal chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, and six assists.

 

6-4 Jr. Jaylen Babb-Harrison led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points on six three point baskets.  Javontae Hawkins added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Jarelle Reischel recorded 16 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  6-1 Sr. KC Bluford chipped in with 12 points including three three point baskets.  Nick Mayo also reached double figures with 11 points.
