Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-10 Fr. Grace Berger, 5-7 Fr. Kia Sivils, 5-11 Jr. Lydia Taylor, 5-4 Sr. Ashley Johnson, and 5-4 Sr. Gretchen Samsel.  Newport Central Catholic coach George Stoll countered with 5-5 Sr. Loren Zimmerman, 5-5 So. Olivia Schalk, 5-7 So. Meg Martin, 5-2 Jr. Ainsley Davenport, and 5-3 Sr. Michaela Ware.

Sacred Heart Academy defeated Newport Central Catholic by a score of 52-45 but the win came with a price as Gretchen Samsel reportedly left the game with a knee injury.  Sacred Heart shot 50% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 NCC turnovers.  NCC shot 36.4% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Thoroughbreds connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 SHA turnovers.

Grace Berger led Sacred Heart with 20 points and 12 rebounds.  Lydia Taylor and 5-4 Fr. Kiki Samsel added nine and seven points respectively.

Ainsley Davenport led Newport Central Catholic with 17 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  Loren Zimmerman and Olivia Schalk each recorded 10 points.
