Madison Central vs. Model (Girls)

 

Madison Central coach Brad Lovely started the following lineup: 5-10 Fr. Bailey Hensley, 5-10 Sr. Raelynn Miller, 5-11 Sr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-4 So. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Sr. Brianna Bierbaum.  Model coach Candace Wells countered with 5-6 7th Grade Emma Kate Lawson, 5-6 Jr. Kenzie Ferguson, 5-11 Jr. Taylor LeCompte, 5-3 Sr. McKenna Tuttle, and 5-6 Jr. Keaton Hall.

 

Madison Central trailed 8-7 after the first quarter but 5-5 8th Grade Brittany Campbell sparked a 28-9 outburst in the second quarter to take a 35-17 lead at halftime on their way to a 57-43 victory over Model.  Madison Central shot 34.9% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and committed six turnovers.  Model shot 26.2% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on 16 of 23 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.

 

5-4 8th Grade Brittany Campbell led Madison Central with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Campbell was seven of 10 from the field including one of one from beyond the arc and did not commit any turnovers.  Bailey Hensley added nine points and seven rebounds.  Gretchen Hammitt recorded seven points and two rebounds.  Eve Carter chipped in with six points and two steals.

 

McKenna Tuttle led Model with 14 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Keaton Hall added eight points including five of eight free throws, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Emma Kate Lawson recorded eight points and five rebounds.  Taylor LeCompte added six points and 10 rebounds.

Madison Central vs. Model (Boys)

 

Madison Central Coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. started the following lineup: 6-6 So Trey Skaggs, 6-2 Sr. Braeden Ray, 6-8 So. Malachi Wood, 6-4 Sr. Kole Browne, and 6-4 So. Jaylen Davis.  Model coach John Morgerson countered with 6-3 Sr. Nate Feese, 6-1 Sr. Ethan Bailey, 6-2 Sr. Colton Collier, 5-10 Sr. Jackson Perry, and 5-10 Sr. Bryson Perry. (Model was short handed tonight with only eight players available and Jackson Perry leaving with an injury in the first minute of play).

 

Madison Central raced out to a 48-11 halftime lead on their way to a 69-34 victory over Model.  Madison Central shot 46.6% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 17 Model turnovers.  Model shot 26.5% from the field including two of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on six of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jaylen Davis led Madison Central with 12 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Kole Browne added 11 points and two rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Will Hardin recorded nine points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  6-2 So. Jayden West chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.  Trey Skaggs added eight points, three assists, and two steals. 

 

Nate Feese led Model with 12 points including six of 11 free throws, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Ethan Bailey added nine points, five rebounds, and two assists.  Bryson Perry recorded seven points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  6-2 Sr. Everett Parker-Noblitt pulled down seven rebounds.

Madison Southern vs. Berea (Girls)

 

Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Macie Daniels, 5-7 Sr. Lacie Parks, 6-0 Jr. Reece Estep, 5-6 Jr. Morgan Flannery, and 5-7 Sr. Samantha Cornelison.  Berea coach Dammian Stepp countered with 5-9 So. Chesney Lovins, 5-8 Jr. Alexis Newman, 6-0 Jr. Madison Howell, 4-11 Jr. Isis Rodgers, and 5-6 Jr. Mati Stepp.

 

This game was billed as arguably the game between the best two teams in the district with the winner expected to win the district and it lived up to its billing.  Madison Southern pulled away late to earn a 46-41 victory but nothing came easy for either team.  Madison Southern jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead and Berea PG Mati Stepp was plagued with foul woes all night and finally fouled out.  Berea battled back and actually took a 35-31 lead in the final quarter but Madison Southern closed out the game with a 15-6 run.  Madison Southern led 42-41 but missed some free throws late but some key offensive rebounds by the Lady Eagles helped close the door on Berea’s chances.  There were four ties and four lead changes in the game.

 

Madison Southern shot 34% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 12 of 24 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.  Berea shot 31.7% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.

 

Samantha Cornelison led Madison Southern with 16 points including five of six free throws, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Lacie Parks added eight points and three rebounds.  Reece Estep recorded seven points and 10 rebounds.  Morgan Flannery chipped in with four points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

 

4-10 So. Maddy King led Berea with 12 points including two three point baskets.  Chesney Lovins added 11 points and eight rebounds.  5-7 So. Abigail Beard recorded six points and eight rebounds.

Berea coach Jerry Thacker countered with 6-3 Sr. Jayden Smith, 6-2 Sr. Edward Sexton, 6-4 Sr. Jaylen Dorsey, 5-6 Jr. Quenten Morgan, and 5-8 Sr. James Brennan.

 

Madison Southern defeated Berea by the score of 61-45.  Madison Southern shot 41.7% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 21 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 34.1% from the field including eight of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Zach Hudson led Madison Southern with 17 points including four three point baskets, two rebounds, and two steals.  Trent DeVries added 12 points including eight of 10 free throws and two steals.  Brett Erslan recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.  Walter Smith chipped in with five points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 

 

Quenten Morgan led Berea with 14 points including four three point baskets, two rebounds, and two assists.  Jaylen Dorsey added 12 points including five of five free throws, and five rebounds.

Madison Southern vs. Madison Central (Girls)

Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Macie Daniels, 5-7 Sr. Lacie Parks, 6-0 Jr. Reece Estep, 5-6 Jr. Morgan Flannery, and 5-7 Sr. Samantha Cornelison.  Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 Fr. Bailey Hensley, 5-10 Sr. Raelynn Miller, 5-11 Sr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-4 So. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Sr. Brianna Bierbaum.

 

Madison Central led 32-31 with 2:27 left in the game but Madison Southern closed out the game on a 9-0 run to earn a 40-32 victory and the District Championship.  Madison Southern was 12 of 16 from the free throw line in the final quarter.  There were seven ties and seven lead changes in the game.  Madison Southern shot 32.3% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 26.5% from the field including two of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 24 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Morgan Flannery led Madison Southern with 12 points including five of six free throws.  Macie Daniels added 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Samantha Cornelison recorded seven points including five of eight free throws, and six rebounds.  Reece Estep chipped in with four points and six rebounds.  5-4 7th Grade Hadley French pulled down seven rebounds.

 

Bailey Hensley led Madison Central with 16 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.  5-5 8th Grade Tiana Long added seven points and two steals.  Eve Carter recorded three points, one rebound, five assists, and six steals.  5-5 8th Grade Brittany Campbell chipped in with two points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Zach Hudson, and 5-8 Jr. Walter Smith.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-4 So. Jaylen Davis, 6-4 Sr. Kole Browne, 6-4 Jr. Will Hardin, 6-2 Sr. Braeden Ray, and 6-6 So. Trey Skaggs.

 

Madison Central pulled away late to defeat Madison Southern by the score of 71-58.  Madison Southern took a brief one point lead early in the third quarter but the Indians quickly rallied and took control of the game.  Madison Central shot 57.9% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 22 of 38 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored two points off five Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 38.5% from the field including 10of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored nine points off seven Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jaylen Davis led Madison Central with 20 points including three three point baskets, five of seven free throws, and nine rebounds.  Will Hardin added 19 points including seven of 10 free throws, and five rebounds.  Kole Browne recorded 16 points including three of three free throws, three rebounds, and four assists.  Braeden Ray chipped in with eight points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 14 points including three three point baskets and two rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Jayden Adams added 12 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists.  Brett Erslan recorded 12 points including four of six free throws, and four rebounds.  Trent DeVries chipped in with seven points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists.  Zach Hudson added six points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two assists.
