Bryan Station vs. Franklin County (Girls) (Franklin County High School)

 

Franklin County defeated Bryan Station by a score of 72-47.  Franklin County shot 42.3% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 14 of 25 free throws and pulled down 37 rebounds.  Bryan Station shot 31.4% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Defenders connected on 11 of 25 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds.

 

5-6 Jr. Brooklynn Miles led a balanced Franklin County scoring attack with 18 points including two three point baskets.  5-6 Sr. Jasmine Simpson added 16 points including four three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.  5-11 So. Jazmin Chambers recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds.  5-10 So. Patience Laster chipped in with 10 points.

 

5-10 So. Tania Woodall led Bryan Station with 14 points including two three point baskets.  5-2 Jr. Natoria Godoy added 12 points.  5-10 Sr. Rhiona Marshall recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.  6-1 Jr. Olea Woodall chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.

Paul Laurence Dunbar defeated Berea by a score of 57-32.  Paul Laurence Dunbar shot 41.3% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 13 of 16 free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.  Berea shot 32.3% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Pirates connected on 10 of 16 free throws and pulled down 20 rebounds.

 

5-10 Jr. Elise Ellison-Coons led Paul Laurence Dunbar with 22 points including eight of eight free throws and pulled down seven rebounds.  5-8 So. Aziah Campbell added 17 points and 5-8 Jr. Tanaya Cecil chipped in with eight points.

 

5-8 So. Alexis Newman led Berea with nine points including two three point baskets.  6-0 So. Madison Howell and 4-10 Fr. Maddy King added six points each.  6-0 So. MacKenzie Howell chipped in with four points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Scott County defeated Tates Creek by the score of 93-58.  Scott County shot 46.5% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 21 of 27 free throws, pulled down 56 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 19 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 27.6% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on 24 of 34 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 17 Scott County turnovers.

 

Malea Williams led Scott County with 32 points, 19 rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.  Morgan DeFoor added 19 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, 12 assists, and four steals.  Kenady Tompkins recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

 

5-2 So. Jada McDonald led Tates Creek with 17 points including 13 of 19 free throws and five rebounds.  Maddie Kauffman added 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  5-5 Fr. Jada Bell recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

Great Crossing defeated Madison Central by the score of 59-44. The score was tied four times and there were nine lead changes in the game.  Great Crossing shot 37.9% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  They connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 21 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 34% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on seven of 19 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Great Crossing turnovers.

 

Braylee McMath led Great Crossing with 25 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, five assists, and nine steals.  Ava Schureman added 11 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals.  Timothi Williams recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

 

Taleya Todd led Madison Central with 13 points.  Jekauri McKeithen added 11 points, 15 rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Eve Carter recorded nine points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

Franklin County coach Tony Wise started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Phillip Peiffer, 6-2 Sr. Cameron Phelps, 6-9 Sr. Joe Meador, 5-7 Sr. Derrick King, and 5-8 So. Zac Cox.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Sr. Peyton Pelfrey, 6-3 Sr. Luke Wedding, 6-2 Sr. Jackson Smith, 6-2 Jr. Ben Johnson, and 6-2 So. Jack Gohmann.

 

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 50-19 halftime lead on their way to a 77-49 victory over Franklin County.  Lexington Catholic shot 58.2% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 16 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 40.4% from the field including seven of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Flyers connected on four of 10 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 24 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.  Luke Wedding added 16 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and three steals.  Jack Gohmann recorded 10 points.

 

Zac Cox led Franklin County with 17 points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.  Joe Meador added 12 points and four rebounds.  Phillip Peiffer recorded eight points and seven rebounds.

Frederick Douglass defeated Berea by the score of 73-32.  Frederick Douglass shot 50% from the field including 12 of 22 from the three point line.  The Broncos connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 34 points off 27 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 28.9% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored five points off 13 Frederick Douglass turnovers. 

 

DaShawn Jackson led Frederick Douglass with 18 points including three three point baskets, four assists, and five steals.  Khamri McMullen added 14 points including four three point baskets.  Jaylan Green recorded nine points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Tates Creek deflected a pass and 6-4 Jr. Josh DuToit scored on a layup as time expired to give the Commodores a 57-55 victory over Madison Central.  6-2 Sr. Amari Taylor led the victors with 28 points.  6-4 So. Will Hardin led Madison Central with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  6-1 Jr. Braeden Ray added 14 points and five rebounds and 6-4 Jr. Kole Browne recorded 13 points and seven rebounds.

 

 

Scott County vs. Frankfort (Boys) (Frankfort Gym)

 

Scott County coach Tim Glenn started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Elias Richardson, 6-1 Jr. Mikaleb Coffey, 6-6 Sr. Terrin Hamilton, 5-10 Jr. Chase Grigsby, and 6-0 Sr. Aaron Leake.  Frankfort coach Chris O’Bryan countered with 6-2 Sr. Chaz Austin, 5-11 Sr. Will O’Bryan, 6-5 So. Scott County defeated Frankfort by the score of 71-58.  Scott County shot 54% from the field including one of nine from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 16 of 21 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Frankfort turnovers.  Frankfort shot 43.2% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 14 Scott County turnovers.

 

Terrin Hamilton led Scott County with 22 points including eight of 10 field goals, six of eight free throws, nine rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Mikaleb Coffey added 14 points including four of four field goals, six of seven free throws, four rebounds, and four steals.  Elias Richardson recorded 11 points and five rebounds.  Aaron Leake chipped in with 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Chase Grigsby added 11 points and three rebounds.

Franklin County raced out to a 21-10 first quarter lead on their way to a 73-63 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar.  Franklin County shot 56.3% from the field including three of six from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 19 Paul Laurence Dunbar turnovers.  Paul Laurence Dunbar shot 45.8% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Franklin County turnovers.

 

5-10 So. Patience Laster led Franklin County with 25 points including nine of 12 field goals, seven of eight free throws, and three rebounds.  Brooklynn Miles added 24 points including seven of 12 free throws, three rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Jasmine Simpson recorded eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals.

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 34 points including five three point baskets, 15 of 16 free throws, six rebounds, and two assists.  Malea Williams added 17 points, 20 rebounds, two assists, and four blocked shots.  Kenady Tompkins recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Franklin County utilized a strong bench effort outscoring Scott County 22-5 to edge the Lady Cardinals 57-53 to earn the championship.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Franklin County shot 43.9% from the field including three of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 18 of 33 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 32.2% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Franklin County turnovers.

 

Brooklynn Miles led Franklin County with 20 points including 12 of 22 free throws, three rebounds, and six assists.  Lakin Hamblin added eight points, three rebounds, and two assists.  5-5 So. Shauvi Kennedy recorded eight points and three rebounds.  5-10 So. Patience Laster chipped in with seven points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  5-5 So. Nevaeh Carter added seven points and six rebounds.  Jazmin Chambers recorded seven points and five rebounds.

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 19 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.  Malea Williams added 15 points and 17 rebounds.  Kenady Tompkins recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Scott County vs. Lexington Catholic (Boys) (Championship) (Eastern Kentucky University)

 

Scott County coach Tim Glenn started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Elias Richardson, 6-1 Jr. Mikaleb Coffey, 6-6 Sr. Terrin Hamilton, 5-10 Jr. Chase Grigsby, and 6-0 Sr. Aaron Leake.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Sr. Peyton Pelfrey, 6-3 Sr. Luke Wedding, 6-2 Sr. Jackson Smith, 6-2 Jr. Ben Johnson, and 6-2 So. Jack Gohmann.

 

Scott County executed an excellent game plan and good shooting to earn a 65-62 upset victory over a Lexington Catholic squad that finished the season with a 31-3 season record.  This was an excellent victory for Coach Tim Glenn and the Scott County Cardinals who experienced an up-and-down season but peaked at the perfect time.  The score was tied eight times and there were 12 lead changes in the game. 

 

Scott County shot 54.3% from the field including seven of 13 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 20 of 28 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off three Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 38.7% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

 

Terrin Hamilton led Scott County with 23 points including two three point baskets, seven of 12 free throws, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Chase Grigsby added 12 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, and five rebounds.  Mikaleb Coffey recorded 10 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.  Aaron Leake chipped in with nine points including four of four free throws and three assists.  Elias Richardson added eight points, four rebounds, and two assists.

 

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 23 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Luke Wedding added 11 points and three rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Ian Rothbauer recorded eight points and four rebounds.  Jack Gohmann chipped in with eight points and three assists.  Jackson Smith recorded six points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
