Collins vs. Trinity

 

Collins coach Chris Gaither started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Dayvion McKnight, 6-1 So. Aaron Thompson, 6-4 Sr. Marcellus Vail, 5-10 Sr. Tyson Turner, and 5-11 Sr. Ben Omer.  Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-2 Jr. Zach Stahlman, 6-1 Jr. Ethan Hodge, 6-3 Jr. Jack Mitchell, 5-10 Jr. Dudley Cox, and 6-0 So. Miles Franklin.

 

Collins pulled out a thrilling 70-69 overtime victory over Trinity to advance in the tournament.  There were seven lead changes and nine ties and Trinity’s 5-10 Jr. Dudley Cox scored on a rebound and a three point buzzer beater to tie the score at 61-61 and force overtime.  Collins’ Marcellus Vail scored on a field goal and free throw to give the Titans a 70-69 lead with eight seconds remaining in overtime.  Collins then recorded a huge steal to ensure the victory.

 

Collins shot 50% from the field including two of 17 from the three point line.  The Titans connected on 22 of 27 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 15 Trinity turnovers.  Trinity shot 52.2% from the field including nine of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Shamrocks connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Collins turnovers.

 

Dayvion McKnight led Collins with 25 points including 11 of 14 free throws, four rebounds, five assists, and six steals.  Marcellus Vail added 15 points including five of five free throws, and six rebounds.  Tyson Turner recorded 11 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Caleb Hawley chipped in with 11 points and three rebounds.

 

Miles Franklin led Trinity with 18 points including four three point baskets.  Zach Stahlman added 16 points including eight of eight free throws, five rebounds, and two steals.  Ethan Hodge recorded 13 points including two three point baskets.  Dudley Cox chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.

Marin County vs. Fairdale

 

Martin County coach Jason James started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Ethan Smith-Mills, 6-3 Sr. Brayden Walker, 6-10 Jr. Trey James, 6-1 So. Brady Dingess, and 6-0 Sr. Braxton Maynard.  Fairdale coach David Hicks countered with 6-4 Sr. Charles Ward, 6-1 Sr. Stephen Moore, 6-1 Sr. Tristan Bertrand, 5-7 Sr. Tyjuan Walter, and 6-0 Jr. Isaac Tedford.

 

Fairdale led 24-19 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to defeat Martin County by a score of 66-48.  Fairdale shot 55.3% from the field including nine of 19 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 19 Martin County turnovers.  Martin County shot 42.1% from the field including five of nine from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Fairdale turnovers.

 

Stephen Moore led Fairdale with 25 points including five three point baskets and five assists.  Tyjuan Walter added 15 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, and two assists. 

 

Brady Dingess led Martin County with 20 points including three three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, two rebounds, and two steals.  Trey James added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots.

North Oldham vs. Bardstown

 

North Oldham coach David Levitch II started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Justin Powell, 6-3 Sr. Luke Barry, 6-4 Sr. Tyler Higdon, 5-10 Fr. North Oldham rallied in the final quarter to defeat Bardstown 65-56.  Bardstown rallied from a 32-23 halftime deficit to lead North Oldham 39-38 after three quarters before the Mustangs rallied for the victory.  There were 11 lead changes and six ties in this game.  North Oldham shot 43.4% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Mustangs connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Bardstown turnovers.  Bardstown shot 35.2% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 11 points off seven North Oldham turnovers.

 

Justin Powell led North Oldham with 24 points including nine of 15 free throws, seven rebounds, nine assists, and two steals.  Tyler Higdon added 13 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  6-4 Fr. Ian Higdon recorded nine points and six rebounds. 

 

JaRel Montgomery led Bardstown 25 points including eight of eight free throws and two steals.  JJ Traynor added 23 points including six of eight free throws, 13 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

McCracken County defeated LaRue County by a score of 60-49.  McCracken County shot 44.7% from the field including nine of 20 from the three point line.  The Mustangs connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 LaRue County turnovers.  LaRue County shot 37.5% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Hawks connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored five points off nine McCracken County turnovers.

 

Jackson Sivills led McCracken County with 24 points including six three point baskets, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Noah Dumas added 17 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and four assists.  Ramon Heard pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Mark Goode led LaRue County with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Warner Bryan added 14 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Bishop McDevitt eked out a 47-45 victory over Miami Palmetto.  Bishop McDevitt shot 44.2% from the field including one of 12 from the three point line.  The Royal Lancers connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Miami Palmetto turnovers.  Miami Palmetto shot 36.6% from the field including eight of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored six points off 13 Bishop McDevitt turnovers.

 

6-4 Sr. Jamil Manigo led Bishop McDevitt with 13 points and four rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Robert Smith added 10 points and four rebounds.  Quin Gilyard pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Jordan Lopez led Miami Palmetto with 14 points including three three point baskets.  Joel Aloma added 13 points including two three point baskets.  Kentron Poitier recorded six points and five rebounds.  Marcos Molina chipped in with six points, two rebounds, and five assists.

Trotwood-Madison coach Rocky Rockhold started the following lineup: 6-2 Jr. Daylon Morgon, 5-7 So. Maker Bar, 5-9 Fr. Jack Edelen, and 6-1 Sr. Lewis Richards.

 

Ballard defeated Trotwood-Madison by the score of 110-99 in a game that was bizarre in several ways.  Trotwood-Madison raced out to a 17-5 lead in the first three minutes of the game.  Ballard then went on a 52-23 run to lead 57-40 at halftime.  Ballard led 88-60 in the third quarter but Trotwood-Madison outscored the Bruins 39-23 in the final quarter to close the margin to 10 points.  The Rams accomplished this despite finishing the game with three players left on the floor as they had five players foul out of the game ad was assessed 35 fouls as Ballard was assessed 27 fouls.

 

Ballard shot 49.2% from the field including 12 of 31 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 33 of 47 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 37 points off 26 Trotwood-Madison turnovers.  Trotwood-Madison shot 44.6% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Rams connected on 27 of 39 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored 30 points off 26 Ballard turnovers.

 

Gabe Sisk led Ballard with 22 points including three three point baskets, seven of seven free throws, and four rebounds.  Jack Edelen added 21 points including three three point baskets, six of nine free throws, five rebounds, and five assists.  Lewis Richards recorded 13 points including nine of nine free throws, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Terrence McDaniels chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  6-0 So. Jalen Buford added 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Chaunte Marrero also reached double digits with 10 points including two three point baskets.  Maker Bar recorded seven points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.

 

Carl Blanton led Trotwood-Madison with 31 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Sellers Little added 17 points including three three point baskets.  6-2 Jr. Courtney Blake recorded 11 points including six of six free throws.  Sammy Anderson chipped in with 10 points including six of six free throws, six rebounds, and three assists.  Damantay Raglin added 10 points and six rebounds.  Anthony Wilson chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.  Daylon Morgon added seven points, 15 rebounds, and three steals.

The score was tied 42-42 at halftime but Male pulled away in the second half to earn an 82-69 victory over South Oldham.  There were four lead changes in this game.  Male shot 61.4% from the field including nine of 15 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 19 of 34 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 15 South Oldham turnovers.  South Oldham shot 44.2% from the field including nine of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Dragons connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Male turnovers.

Justin Powell led North Oldham with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Tyler Higdon added 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Thomas Ashton recorded 12 points including two three point baskets and seven assists.  Ian Higdon chipped in with 11 points.
