Monday January 14th

 

Valley vs. Waggener

 

Waggener entered this game as the #3 seed but was coming off a poor performance in a loss to Trinity and had just managed to beat Valley by three points at home earlier in the season.  Waggener looked like a totally different team today as they outscored Valley 20-9 in the second quarter on their way to a convincing 82-49 victory.  Waggener shot 45.5% from the field including nine of 19 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 23 of 27 free throws and pulled down 39 rebounds.

 

6-4 Sr. JJ Kalakon led Waggener with 21 points including 10 of 10 from the free throw line.  5-10 Sr. Jocobi Hendricks added 18 points including three three point baskets.  6-3 Jr. Dallas Rufus recorded 14 points.  6-5 Sr. Cobie Montgomery chipped in with five points and six rebounds.

 

6-2 Sr. Cam Wilson and 6-5 Sr. Isaac Clair led Valley with 13 and 12 points respectively.  6-0 Sr. Xavier Johnson added seven points.

Doss vs. Ballard

 

Ballard outscored Doss 20-9 in the third quarter to take control of the game in a 73-62 victory.  Ballard shot a sizzling 61.4% from the field and closed out the third quarter with a 14-1 run.  Doss shot 35.3% from the field including 11 of 28 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 15 of 23 free throws and pulled down 28 rebounds.

 

6-1 Sr. Walter Johnson led Ballard with 25 points.  6-5 Jr. Rashad Bishop added 19 points and 6-1 Jr. Josh Minkins chipped in with 11 points.

 

6-2 Sr. Terrell Taylor led Doss with 22 points including six three point baskets and four of five free throws.  6-3 Sr. Tyione Downs added 15 points and five rebounds.

Bullitt East vs. Butler

 

Bullitt East finished the game on an 11-0 run capped by Thomas Wiseheart’s two free throws with 3.5 seconds left to lead Bullitt East to a 50-49 upset victory over top-seeded Butler.  Butler led by 10 with about two and a half minutes left but three turnovers and a key missed free throw opened the door for the Chargers.  Bullitt East shot 61.8% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Chargers connected on three of eight free throws and pulled down 21 rebounds.

 

6-1 Sr. Thomas Wiseheart led Bullitt East with 15 points.  5-11 Jr. Zak Perdew and 6-4 Sr. Tyler Steinmetz added 11 points each.

 

5-8 Sr. Maurice Tolley led Butler with 15 points.  5-9 Jr. Trey Minter added nine points.  6-1 Jr. Thomas Dozier chipped in with eight points.

Bullitt Central vs. Trinity

 

Trinity raced out to a 27-9 first quarter lead on their way to a 67-47 victory over Bullitt Central.  Trinity shot 53.2% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on nine of nine free throws, and pulled down 33 rebounds.  Bullitt Central shot 21.4% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc.  They connected on six of seven free throws and pulled down 13 rebounds.

 

6-4 Sr. Stan Turnier led Trinity with 15 points including three three point baskets.  6-5 Sr. David Johnson added 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  6-0 Sr. Kamari Kenemore chipped in with 10 points.

 

6-2 Jr. Chandler Ocasio led Bullitt Central with 19 points.  5-8 Jr. Tyler Tatum added 12 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Aiden Terry recorded 11 points.

Jeffersontown vs. Central

 

Jeffersontown trailed 44-39 after three quarters but outscored Central 17-4 in the final quarter to earn a 56-48 victory over Central.  6-4 Sr. Blake Butler led Jeffersontown with 22 points, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots.  6-3 Fr. Brandon Rayzer-Moore added 13 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.  6-3 Sr. Chris Trigg chipped in with 11 points.

 

5-9 So. Devin Perry led Central with 11 points and six rebounds.  5-10 So. Shane Bibby added nine points and 5-11 Sr. Dalquan Beason chipped in with eight points.

Seneca defeated DeSales by a score of 79-56.  Seneca shot 55% from the field.  DeSales shot 35% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line.  The Colts connected on eight of eight free throws and pulled down 33 rebounds.

 

6-2 Sr. Timothy Gordon led Seneca with 26 points, five assists, and four steals.  6-4 Sr. Richard Ninamou added 21 points and eight rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Phillip Armstrong chipped in with 11 points.

 

6-3 So. Luke McClinton led DeSales with 16 points including three three point baskets.  6-1 Sr. Matthew Ruckriegel added 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Tyren Moore hit a jump shot with approximately four seconds remaining on the clock to give Male a 38-36 victory over Fern Creek.  Jaden Rogers missed a three point attempt at the buzzer that would have given Fern creek the victory.  Male shot 33.3% from the field including zero of 12 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 10 of 21 free throws and pulled down 24 rebounds.  Fern Creek shot 31.8% from the field including zero of eight from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on eight of 16 free throws and pulled down 37 rebounds.

 

5-10 Jr. Tyren Moore led Male with 15 points including five of six free throws.  6-7 Sr. Zach Gray added seven points and eight rebounds.

Pleasure Ridge Park vs. St. Xavier

 

Pleasure Ridge Park led 37-26 after three quarters but had to withstand a late St. Xavier rally to earn a 47-44 victory.  St. Xavier had their late chances but turned the ball over on two occasions and misfired on a three point attempt at the buzzer.  Pleasure Ridge Park shot 40.5% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 13 of 26 free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.  St. Xavier shot 41% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on seven of 13 free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.

 

6-7 Darius Osborne led Pleasure Ridge Park with 11 points and eight rebounds.  6-3 Shawn Paris and 6-2 Sr. Tyler Anderson added 10 and nine points respectively.

 

5-9 Jr. Sebian Dillard led St. Xavier with 15 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  5-7 Jr. Nicholas Mosley added nine points.  6-3 Sr. Sam Boarman recorded eight points and six rebounds.  5-9 Fr. Mekhi Smith also scored eight points.

Waggener vs. Jeffersontown (Quarterfinal)

 

Jocobi Hendricks hit a 15 foot jump shot with 11 seconds remaining in overtime to give Waggener a 50-49 victory over Jeffersontown.  Jeffersontown had a late chance but a three point attempt by Blake Butler bounced off the rim.  Waggener shot 40% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 12 of 20 free throws and pulled down 25 rebounds.  Waggener had to rebound from a slow start as they trailed 18-12 at halftime.

 

5-10 So. Jocobi Hendricks led Waggener with 28 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws, and six rebounds.  6-4 Sr. JJ Kalakon added 12 points.

 

6-4 Sr. Blake Butler led Jeffersontown with 13 points.  6-3 Fr. Brandon Rayzer-Moore and 6-3 Sr. Chris Trigg added 12 and 10 points respectively.

Seneca shot a sizzling 53.4% from the field and controlled the boards (42-30) in a 74-54 victory over Bullitt East.  6-2 Sr. Timothy Gordon led Seneca with 32 points including seven three point baskets.  6-4 Sr. Richard Ninamou added 19 points and 14 rebounds.  6-6 Sr. Carl Parker also recorded a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

 

5-11 Jr. Zak Perdew led Bullitt East with 16 points.  6-5 Sr. Rece Watson added eight points and 10 rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Thomas Wiseheart also scored eight points.

Trinity hit their free throws down the stretch to pull away for a 61-51 victory over Male.  Trinity shot 42.6% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on 17 of 22 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds.  Male shot 39% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 12 of 15 free throws and pulled down 23 rebounds.

 

6-5 Sr. David Johnson led Trinity with 25 points including 12 of 14 free throws, 13 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  6-3 Sr. Jamil Hardaway and 6-0 Sr. Kamari Kenemore added 14 and 11 points respectively.

 

5-10 Jr. Tyren Moore led Male with 18 points including five three point baskets.  6-4 Jr. Noah Courtney added 14 points and eight rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Howard Fleming recorded nine points and six rebounds.

Ballard vs. Seneca (Semifinal)

 

Seneca trailed 28-23 at halftime but shot 68% from the field in the second half to upset Ballard by a score of 61-59.  Carl Parker hit a basket with approximately 30 seconds left in the game to give Seneca a big victory over Ballard.  6-6 Sr. Carl Parker led Seneca with 21 points and nine rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Richard Ninamou added 14 points and seven rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Timothy Gordon recorded 13 points and six assists.

 

6-1 Jr. Lewis Richards led Ballard with 19 points.  6-1 Sr. Walter Johnson added 16 points and five steals.

Trinity closed the game with a 10-2 run and hit their free throws down the stretch to earn a 44-41 victory over Waggener.  Trinity shot 40% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on 13 of 21 free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.  Waggener shot 37.5% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc.  They connected on eight of 13 free throws, and pulled down 25 rebounds.

 

6-5 Sr. David Johnson led Trinity with 15 points including five of five free throws and seven rebounds.  6-3 Sr. Jamil Hardaway added nine points and seven rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Stan Turnier recorded nine points and five rebounds.

Trinity vs. Seneca (Championship)

 

Trinity defeated Seneca 57-40 to earn their sixth overall Louisville Invitational Tournament championship and their second in a row.  Trinity shot 50% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Shamrocks connected on five of seven free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.  Seneca shot 34.15 from the field. 

 

6-4 Sr. Stan Turnier led Trinity with 16 points including four three point baskets.  5-8 Sr. Kolton Rice and 6-3 Sr. Jamil Hardaway added 11 and 10 points respectively.  6-5 Sr. David Johnson recorded six points, five rebounds, and five assists. 

 

6-6 Sr. Carl Parker led Seneca with 13 points and eight rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Richard Ninamou added 12 points and nine rebounds.
