EYBL Finals at Nike Peach Jam

The summer started with forty of the top 17U teams playing an eighteen game schedule at four locations (Los Angeles, CA, Hampton, VA, Dallas, TX, and Minneapolis, MN).  The top twenty four teams will advance to the championship pool play at the Nike Peach Jam.  The twenty four teams will play a five game pool schedule with the top eight teams advancing to a single elimination tournament.

E1T1 76  Meanstreets 52 (Quarterfinal) Boubacar Moungoro, Michael Gilmore, and Joel Berry led a balanced E1T1 attack with 13, 11, and 10 points respectively.  D’Angelo Russell recorded nine points, six rebounds, and seven assists.  Alex Owens scored seven points, pulled down nine rebounds, and blocked four shots.  Joel Berry also dished out eight assists.  Tyler Ulis led Meanstreets with 16 points.  Charles Matthews recorded a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Tye Wilburn also scored 13 points.

 

Team Final 69  Houston Hoops 63 (Quarterfinal)  JaQuan Newton led Team Final with 22 points.  Malachi Richardson and Mikal Bridges each recorded 13 points.  Justise Winslow led Houston Hoops with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Kelly Oubre and Justin Jackson added 16 and 13 points respectively.

 

Team Penny 67  Team Scan 66 (Quarterfinal) Team Penny led 38-28 at halftime and survived a Team Scan rally in the second half to earn the victory.  Kevaughn Allen led the victors with 18 points including three three point baskets.  Keelon Lawson Jr. added 15 points and eight rebounds.  Deadrick Lawson chipped in with 12 points.  Terry Larrier, Chris McCullough, and Cheick Diallo led Team Penny with 15, 13, and 13 points respectively.

 

CP3 All-Stars 84  California Supreme 76 (Quarterfinal) Gary Clark led the victors with 24 points and 10 rebounds.  Nate Mason and L.J. Peak added 15 and 14 points respectively.  Theo Pinson recorded 11 points, five rebounds, six assists, and four blocked shots.  Parker Jackson-Cartwright led California Supreme with 18 points and seven assists.  Aaron Holiday, Julian Richardson, and Payton Dastrup added 14, 14, and 11 points respectively.

 

Sunday July 14th  Tournament Play

 

Boys 16U Tournament Play

 

Arkansas Wings 67  E1T1 48 (Championship) Marquise Pointer, Marlon Hunter, and Devin Campbell led Arkansas Wings with 14, 12, and 11 points respectively.  Malik Maitland and Johnathan Laurunt led E1T1 with 11 and nine points respectively.

 

Boys 17U Tournament Play

 

CP3 All-Stars 87  Team Final 82 (Semifinal) CP3 All-Stars erased a 52-45 first half deficit to earn the victory.  L.J. Peak led the victors with 21 points.  6-7 Gary Clark added 20 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Shelton Mitchell chipped in with 15 points and seven assists while Theo Pinson recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Malachi Richardson led Team Final with 23 points.  Shep Garner added 18 points including four three point baskets.  Mikal Bridges and JaQuan Newton chipped in with 14 and 10 points respectively.

 

E1T1 102  Team Penny 80 (Semifinal) E1T1 recorded 13 three point baskets and had seven players in double figures in today’s victory.  D’Angelo Russell led the victors with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.  Grayson Allen added 15 points.  Joel Berry recorded 13 points and nine assists.  Deadrick Lawson led Team Penny with 25 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Kevaughn Allen and Keelon Lawson Jr. added 21 and 17 points respectively.

 

E1T1 108  CP3 All-Stars 102 (Championship) E1T1 continued their long range bombing connecting on 12 three point baskets in their championship victory.  Joel Berry led the victors with 22 points including four three point baskets and dished out eight assists.  D’Angelo Russell also recorded 22 points including four three point baskets.  Boubacar Moungoro added 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.  Grayson Allen and Kobie Eubanks chipped in with 16 and 14 points respectively.  Alex Owens pulled down 16 rebounds.  Theo Pinson led CP3 All-Stars with 23 points and nine rebounds.  Nate Mason added 21 points and seven assists.  Gary Clark recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds.  Shelton Mitchell and L.J. Peak chipped in with 18 and 10 points respectively.

 

6-7 (2014) Stanley Johnson (Oakland Soldiers) averaged 25.6 ppg and 10.2 rpg this week and was dominating in his games.  6-7 (2014) Reid Travis (Howard Pulley) averaged 22.8 ppg and shot 65.6% from the field.  6-8 (2016) Deadrick Lawson (Team Penny) averaged 18.4 ppg and is a versatile scorer.  6-0 (2014) Joel Berry (E1T1) showed the ability to both score and distribute leading his team to the title.  6-4 (2014) D’Angelo Russell (E1T1) showed his versatility by recording a triple double this week in points, rebounds, and assists.  6-6 (2014) Theo Pinson (CP3 All-Stars) averaged 17.4 ppg and demonstrated an uncanny ability to get to the free throw line and was deadly (90.0%) once he got there.  6-2 (2014) Tyus Jones (Howard Pulley) averaged 21.6 ppg for the week 

 

Conclusion

 

Congratulations to Each 1 Teach 1 for capturing the championship in this star-studded event.  The talent was outstanding with many coaches observing the action.  Nike did their usual great job of promoting and providing comprehensive up-to-date scores and information about the event throughout the summer.  Please check their excellent website and all the info provided by the many recruiting gurus that covered this excellent event.
