Friday April 12th

 

Randy Ward Game Director and his staff does an excellent job with this two day event.  The festivities starts with the SlamJam Festival “Night of Stars” competitions which consists of 1 on 1, 3 on 3, 3-point shooting, and slam dunk.

 

Girls – The overall champion in the 3-point shootout was Larryn Brooks (Kentucky Madison Central) over Konner Harris (Ohio Sidney).  The 1 on 1 championship featured Bianca Quisenberry (Tecumseh) defeating Kayla McDowell (Mason) for the Ohio Championship) and Makayla Epps (Marion County) defeating Serena Sandusky (Bryan Station) for the Kentucky championship.  Makayla Epps defeated Bianca Quisenberry for the overall championship.  The 3 on 3 championship featured the Kentucky team of Larryn Brooks (Madison Central), Leah Schaeffer (Highlands), and Makayla Epps (Marion County) defeating the Ohio team of Alexis Henning (Centerville), Megan Galloway (Greenville), and Trischa Lacy (Urbana).

 

Boys – The overall champion in the 3-point shootout was Austin McBee (Ohio Minford) over Omar Prewitt (Kentucky Montgomery County).  The 1 on 1 championship featured Zac Carter (Ohio Ironton) defeating Logan O’Bryan (Kentucky Daviess County).  The 3 on 3 championship featured the Ohio team of Zac Carter (Ironton), DJ Wingfield (Walnut Hills), and Isaiah Johnson (Walnut Hills) defeating the Kentucky team of Rusty Troutman (Bullitt East), Demetrius McReynolds (Louisville Butler), and Tyler Jones (Montgomery County).  Ray Kasongo (Kentucky Pikeville) defeated Josh Davenport (Cincinnati Moeller) for the slam dunk title.

The Kentucky team’s pressure defense proved too much for Ohio tonight as the Kentucky team led from the beginning in a 113-76 victory.  Kierra Muhammad was named Team MVP for Kentucky and scored 16 points.  Taylor Porter and Serena Sandusky led the team with 17 points each.  Ashton Feldhaus recorded 12 points.

 

Erica Dawson was named Team MVP for Ohio and recorded 11 points and six rebounds.  Kayla McDowell and Tori Leader added 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Ohio Team defeated the Kentucky Team by a score of 106-98.  Ohio Team MVP Kevin Johnson led his squad with 21 points including four three point baskets.  Trey Fletcher, DJ Wingfield, Zac Carter, and Josh Davenport added 15, 14,12, and 11 points respectively.

 

MiKyle McIntosh was named MVP for the Kentucky Team and scored 18 points.  Ken-Jah Bosley, Dominique Hawkins, and Rusty Troutman added 17, 14, and 11 points respectively.
