Lexington Catholic (1-0) vs. Mercy Academy (1-0)

Lexington Catholic Coach Jeff Hans started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Megan Donnelly, 5-11 Sr. Natalie Novosel, 6-0 Sr. Lauren Conrad, 5-8 Sr. Briana Green, and 5-9 Jr. Maggie Wilson. Mercy Academy Coach Mark Evans countered with 5-9 Jr. Catherine Montano, 5-7 So. Malisa Cruz, 6-0 Sr. Hope Thomas, 5-9 Sr. Amy Wimsatt, and 5-9 Sr. Katie Wiedmar.

Lexington Catholic led 27-24 at halftime and outscored Mercy 14-4 in the third quarter on their way to a 63-48 victory. Lexington Catholic shot 37.7% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 26 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 28 Mercy turnovers. Mercy shot 30.2% from the field including only one of 12 from beyond the arc. The Jaguars connected on nine of 16 free throws, grabbed 45 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 23 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Natalie Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and seven steals. Maggie Wilson added 10 points. 5-8 So. Anna Gayle Scott and 5-9 Jr. Shaneque McGhee both came off the bench to record eight points each.Hope Thomas led Mercy Academy with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Kellie Cox came off the bench to add 10 points. Katie Wiedmar chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds. Malisa Cruz and 5-8 So. Ellen Sholtes also recorded seven points each.
