Lafayette (2-0) vs. Henry Clay (2-0)

Lafayette Coach Allison Tate Denton started the following lineup:  6-0 Sr. Katie Aldrich, 5-9 Sr. Corin Dunn, 6-4 Sr. Que' Christian, 5-6 So. Ali Ross, and 5-5 Jr. Maya Hanatani.  Henry Clay Coach Scott Cromwell countered with 5-11 Jr. Brittany Coles, 5-5 Sr. Raven Price, 6-2 Sr. Gwen Rucker, 5-6 Sr. Hanna Blankenship, and 5-5 Sr. Alex Hamilton

Lafayette rallied in the closing two minutes to erase a four point deficit to defeat Henry Clay 44-42.  Lafayette trailed 42-38 late in the game but Ali Ross hit a three point basket to cut the deficit to one, 42-41, with 1:25 left in the game.  Corin Dunn hit a putback basket with 20 seconds left on the clock give the Lady Generals a 43-42 lead.  Ross connected on one of two free throws to give Lafayette a 44-42 lead with 7.7 seconds remaining on the clock and the Lady Generals held on for the victory.  Lafayette established the tempo tonight and their defense was the difference as the Lady Blue Devils could never get into a rhythm on offense. 

Lafayette shot 34% from the field and connected on 11 of 15 free throws.  Henry Clay shot 31% from the field and connected on eight of 15 free throws. 

Corin Dunn and Katie Aldrich led Lafayette with 14 points each.  Dunn also pulled down nine rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Kennae Demus came off the bench to record six points.  Gwen Rucker led Henry Clay with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Brittany Coles and Hanna Blankenship added eight and seven points respectively.
