Sacred Heart Academy (17-4) vs. Lexington Catholic (21-1)

Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup:  6-1 Sr. Caroline Klein, 5-10 Sr. Katie Kopple, 6-3 Sr. Elizabeth Campbell, 5-7 Sr. Sarah Askin, and 5-6 Jr. Whitney Ising.  Lexington Catholic coach Jeff Hans countered with 5-11 Jr. Natalie Novosel, 5-9 So. Maggie Wilson, 6-0 Sr. Kellie Cash, 5-8 Jr. Briana Green, and 5-7 Sr. Keyla Snowden.

Sacred Heart defeated Lexington Catholic 77-66 in overtime to snap Lexington Catholicís 71 game winning streak against in-state rivals.  The last team to beat the Lady Knights was Sacred Heart in the 2004 state championship.  Sacred Heart came out strong in overtime, scoring nine of the first 11 points to take control of the game.  The Valkyries also hit 12 of 14 free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory.  The second quarter was especially damaging to Lexington Catholic as they were outscored 17-8.

Sacred Heart shot 43.3% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 21 of 33 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 29 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 41.7% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 11 of 15 free throws, grabbed 35 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 27 Sacred Heart turnovers.

Elizabeth Campbell led Sacred Heart with 34 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists.  Campbell connected on11 of 20 from the field and 12 of 14 free throws.  Sarah Askin and Whitney Ising added 14 and 11 points respectively.

Keyla Snowden and Natalie Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 23 points each.  Novosel also pulled down 11 rebounds, and Snowden recorded six steals.  Maggie Wilson chipped in with 10 points.  Kellie Cash recorded four points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and eight steals.
