The 42nd District consists of Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Sayre, and Scott County.  

Tuesday February 27th

Bryan Station (7-22) vs. Scott County (23-3) (Girls)

Bryan Station Coach Michael Allen started the following lineup:  5-8 So. Monique Collier, 5-10 Fr. Nealy Williams, 5-10 Jr. Ciera Jackson, 5-7 Fr. Jasmine Lee, and 5-8 Fr. Mikayla Mosby.  Scott County Coach Steve Helton countered with 5-10 Sr. Rebecca Gray, 5-10 Fr. Madisen Webb, 6-1 Sr. Holly Milburn, 5-6 Sr. Brillia Garr, and 5-5 Jr. Kayla Moses

Scott County raced out to a 27-7 first quarter lead, substituted liberally throughout the game, and cruised to an 88-40 victory over Bryan Station.   Fourteen Scott County Lady Cardinals played tonight, with twelve players entering the scoring column.  

Scott County shot 47.1% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 34 points off 26 Bryan Station turnovers.  Scott County held a 49-11 advantage in bench scoring.   Bryan Station shot 26.7% from the field including zero of four from beyond the arc.  The Lady Defenders connected on 16 of 30 free throws and grabbed 35 rebounds.  

5-8 Jr. Jessica Wilson led Scott County with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Rebecca Gray and Holly Milburn added 12 and 11 points respectively.   5-9 Fr. Sachi Howard also reached double figures with 10 points.  5-9 8th grader Alex McKenzie and 5-11 So. Krissie Giles recorded six points each.  McKenzie and Giles pulled down 10 and eight rebounds respectively.   Nealy Williams led Bryan Station with 13 points including nine of 11 free throws.  Ciera Jackson added six points.  Monique Collier recorded four points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Henry Clay Coach Daniel Brown started the following lineup:  5-11 Fr. Ge-Lawn Guyn, 6-5 Jr. Aaron Boyd, 6-6 Jr. Victor Moses, 5-8 Jr. Brian Nichols, and 6-0 Sr. Travis Bowman.  Scott County Coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Cameron Hundley, 5-10 Sr. Jimmie Warren, 6-7 Jr. Jordan Lee, 6-4 Jr. Bud Mackey, and 6-3 Sr. Matt Walls

Scott County raced out to a 15-4 first quarter lead on their way to a 72-47 victory over Henry Clay.   Scott County shot 42.4% from the field including 10 of 22 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 40.4% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on seven of 19 free throws, grabbed 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Scott County turnovers. 

Bud Mackey led Scott County with 18 points and six assists.  6-4 Jr. Tyler Portwood added 15 points including three three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Matt Walls chipped in with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  6-0 Jr. Jordan Adams also reached double figures with 10 points.  Aaron Boyd led Henry Clay with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Ge-Lawn Guyn added 10 points and six rebounds.  Victor Moses chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

Sayre (17-7) vs. Henry Clay (16-10) (Girls)

Sayre Coach Scott Sutton started the following lineup:  6-0 Sr. Logan Marksbury, 5-9 Sr. Emma Lofgren, 6-3 Jr. Samantha Bowie, 5-8 Sr. Lizzie Youngblood, and 5-6 Fr. Anna MacNeil.  Henry Clay Coach Scott Cromwell countered with 5-11 So. Brittany Coles, 5-6 Jr. Hanna Blankenship, 6-1 Jr. Gwen Rucker, 5-5 Jr. Demetria Nichols, and 5-5 Jr. Raven Price

Henry Clay raced out to a 38-12 halftime lead in a 66-27 victory over Sayre.   Henry Clay scored 27 points off 30 Sayre turnovers in a 66-27 victory.   Henry Clay shot 46.3% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 26 Sayre turnovers.  Sayre shot 36.4% from the field including zero of two from beyond the arc.  The Lady Spartans connected on three of seven free throws and grabbed 22 rebounds. 

Raven Price led Henry Clay with 16 points including four three point baskets.  Gwen Rucker added 15 points and seven rebounds.  Brittany Coles and Demetria Nichols chipped in with nine points each.  Samantha Bowie led Sayre with 12 points, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Emma Lofgren added eight points.

Bryan Station held Sayre to only 16 points in the last three quarters in an 84-29 victory over Sayre.   Bryan Station shot 46.1% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored 34 points off 26 Sayre turnovers.  Sayre shot 16.7% from the field including three of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Spartans connected on 10 of 12 free throws and grabbed 30 rebounds. 

Jaron Jones led Bryan Station with 18 points including three three point baskets.  Stefan Lewis added 13 points and eight rebounds.  Shelvin Mack chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Trae Cunningham led Sayre with 10 points and six rebounds.  Dee Smith added 10 points and five rebounds.

Henry Clay (17-10) vs. Scott County (24-3) (Girls)  (Championship)

Henry Clay Coach Scott Cromwell started the following lineup:  5-11 So. Brittany Coles, 5-6 Jr. Hanna Blankenship, 6-1 Jr. Gwen Rucker, 5-5 Jr. Demetria Nichols, and 5-5 Jr. Raven Price.  Scott County Coach Steve Helton countered with 5-10 Sr. Rebecca Gray, 5-10 Fr. Madisen Webb, 6-1 Sr. Holly Milburn, 5-6 Sr. Brillia Garr, and 5-5 Jr. Kayla Moses

Scott County trailed 52-51 after three quarters but rallied in the final quarter to defeat Henry Clay 77-73.   Scott County shot 40% from the field including zero of two from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 25 of 33 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 24 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 42.4% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 14 of 21 free throws, grabbed 47 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Scott County turnovers. 

Rebecca Gray led Scott County with 40 points and six rebounds.  Gray was 11 of 26 from the field and 18 of 20 from the free throw line.   Kayla Moses added 19 points.  Holly Milburn pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.  Raven Price led Henry Clay with 16 points and six rebounds.  Brittany Coles added 13 points and nine rebounds.  Gwen Rucker chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Demetria Nichols added 12 points and dished out eight assists.

Bryan Station led 59-57 with 6:07 remaining in the game but Scott County rallied for a 74-69 victory.   Scott County shot 42.4% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 18 of 27 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 31 points off 23 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 37.3% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Defenders connected on 18 of 25 free throws, grabbed 39 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 22 Scott County turnovers. 

Bud Mackey led Scott County with 23 points and eight rebounds.  Matt Walls added 20 points including four three point baskets.  Walls also pulled down nine rebounds.  Jordan Lee chipped in with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Jaron Jones led Bryan Station with 19 points including three three point baskets and five steals.  Shelvin Mack added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Stefan Lewis chipped in with 13 points.  Courtney Embry recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.

Conclusion

Congratulations to the Scott County boys and girls teams for capturing their respective championships.  The champions, and the Bryan Station boys and Henry Clay girls will advance to the 11th Region tournament.
