Frankfort (0-0) at Lafayette (0-0)

Frankfort coach Brad Mefford started the following lineup:  6-3 So. E. J. Fields, 6-0 Jr. Zed Smith, 6-4 Jr. Josh Smith, 5-11 Sr. Alonzo Tillman, and 6-0 Sr. Matt Anderson.  Lafayette coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-3 Sr. Greg Leslie, 5-10 So. Dante Stewart, 6-2 Sr. Daniel Burke, 5-10 So. Tommy Gifford, and 6-1 Sr. Pete Gifford.

Lafayette raced out to a 58-21 halftime lead on their way to a 95-48 victory over Frankfort.  Lafayette’s defense did the damage in the first half as they scored 29 points off 18 Frankfort turnovers.  The Generals scored 44 points off 27 Frankfort turnovers for the entire game.  Lafayette held a 55.7%-34.5% advantage in field goal shooting for the game.  Lafayette held a 43-4 advantage on bench scoring and had 12 players in the scoring column.

Pete Gifford led the victors with 18 points.  Greg Leslie added 11 points and 6-8 Sr. Tyler Wilkerson chipped in with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots.  6-4 Jr. Darrin Williams also reached double figures with 10 points.  6-3 Sr. Enrique Shaw came off the bench to record nine points and seven rebounds.  Matt Anderson led Frankfort with 22 points.  Josh Smith added nine points and 10 rebounds while Alonzo Tillman chipped in with eight points.

Lafayette has a good blend of experience and a big man (Tyler Wilkerson) who could dominate in the paint this season.  Coach Brad Mefford graduated a talented senior class and will probably struggle early in the season with a difficult early schedule.  The Panthers will play hard and improve during the season.  Matt Anderson is an excellent three point shooter who has improved other phases of his game.
