Scott County (24-4) vs. Tates Creek (17-7)

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup:  5-10 So. Rebecca Gray, 6-0 Jr. Suzie Owens, 6-0 Sr. Aimee Bruckner, 5-6 Sr. Michelle Howard, and 5-6 Jr. Chelsea Lymon.  Tates Creek coach Jan Ulmer countered with 6-1 Sr. Kristen Pendleton, 5-8 Sr. Shaquita Dowlen, 6-2 Sr. Brittany Pittman, 5-7 Sr. Derrica Morton, and 5-7 Sr. Philnisha Lindsey.

Tates Creek trailed 50-45 in the final quarter but Scott County outscored the Lady Commodores 11-0 for the remainder of the game to take a 61-45 victory.  Tates Creek took a 5-0 lead and led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter.  Scott County mounted a rally in the second quarter to lead 31-25 at halftime.  Chelsea Lymon and Rebecca Gray led Scott County in the first half with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Scott County surged ahead 40-30 in the third quarter, but Tates Creek battled back to trail 44-38 at the end of three quarters.  Tates Creek pulled to within four, 48-44, but could not close the gap and Scott County pulled away for a 61-45 victory.  Tates Creek was 12 of 25 from the field in the first half but could only manage six of 22 from the field in the second half.  Scott County controlled the offensive boards in the second half, scoring several second chance baskets.

Scott County was led tonight by Chelsea Lymon and Rebecca Gray with 19 and 17 points respectively. Michelle Howard added 10 points and 5-9 Jr. Ausha Weathers chipped in with nine points.  Aimee Bruckner only tallied two points but pulled down 11 rebounds.

Brittany Pittman led Tates Creek with 12 points, six rebounds, and eight blocked shots.  Philnisha Lindsey added 10 points and Derrica Morton chipped in with nine points.  Kristen Pendleton went down with an ankle injury in the final minute of the game but hopefully will be back for the district tournament.

Scott County bounced back after a loss to Lexington Catholic and will enter tourney play with on an upswing.  Tates Creek has been on a downward spiral as of late and must revert to early season form to be a threat in tourney play.  Tates Creek is a talented squad and if they can rebound will be a serious contender in both district and regional play.
