There will be five games on the slate today, featuring nine teams from Central Kentucky and Muncie Central (Indiana).  The featured game today will pit Muncie Central (IN) against the host school Scott County.  The schedule is as follows:
11:30 a.m. Paris vs. West Jessamine
1:30 p.m. Bourbon Co. vs. Woodford Co.
3:30 p.m. Harrison Co. vs. East Jessamine
5:30 p.m. Muncie Central vs. Scott Co.
7:30 p.m. Frankfort vs. Clark Co.

Game No. 1  Paris (10-8) vs. West Jessamine (8-13)

Paris coach Cary Barr started the following lineup:  6-0 Jr. Todd O'Connell, 6-4 Jr. Jonathan Snowden, 6-1 Sr. Shelby Young, 5-10 So. Eddie Marks, and 6-1 Jr. Odell Cosby.  West Jessamine County coach Tim Peterson countered with 6-3 Sr. Travis Spann, 6-1 Sr. Adam Gilchrest, 6-4 So. Scott Tarvin, 5-8 So. Daniel Thompson, and 6-1 So. Cameron Jackson.

Both teams were missing players who were taking their ACT exams today.   Paris was especially decimated as most of their starting inside players were missing.   West Jessamine won today by a score of 76-63.  They were led by Scott Tarvin with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Travis Spann and 6-1 Jr. Brandon Adams each added 13 points.  Paris was led today by 6-1 Sr. Shelby Young with 22 points.  On a personal note, I thought Coach Barr did an excellent job keeping his out manned Greyhounds motivated and playing hard against a young but talented West Jessamine squad.

Conclusion

It was another enjoyable day of basketball at Scott Co. High School.  The atmosphere is always great here because the people truly enjoy basketball, especially when their Cardinals are playing.  Muncie Central gave Scott Co. a real test today and Scott Co. responded with their 20th win of the season.  Muncie Central's 6-3 Sr. Johnnie Miller was probably the most athletic player on the floor today.  Bourbon Co. played well today and Preston LeMaster continues to star.  West Jessamine's 6-4 So. Scott Tarvin continues to impress -- a smooth left hander who hits the boards.  Chris O'Bryan has done a great job at East Jessamine, notching his 20th win of the year -- a solid choice for coach of the year in the 11th region?  Watch out for Scott Chalk and the Frankfort Panthers.  He has a young team that is playing well and will add another weapon in Chris Current who is expected to return soon.  Scott Co. doesn't have the stars who can put up the numbers like Rick Jones, Scott Hundley, Casey Alsop, etc., but on a Billy Hicks-coached team defense never takes a holiday.  Their scoring is by committee but they are 20-3 and still have plenty of weapons in their arsenal heading into tournament play.
