Mikes Monte Carlo SS

The "Crimson Krush"

The bio on this car goes something like this. Its been owned 3 times (me included). First owner kept the car immaculate then sold it a couple of years back to a woman who managed to drive it into a ditch tearing the passengers side front suspension, fender, nose, steering linkage and spindle to hell then proceeded to let her son run it the rest of the way into the ground. By this time the woman wasn't making payments on the car anymore (wonder why?) so the repo man came an collected the car and that is where I come in. Around Jan. of '98 I started my hunt for a Monte SS and around March I spotted one of the local repair shops towing this SS into there lot so I said Hmmm :-/ think I'll check it out. I asked the guy at the shop what the deal was and he told me its a repo and if I was interested to talk to the bank. So the bank said make an offer and wait a month if no one puts in a better bid then the cars yours. So a month and $2000 later I'm a proud owner of my first Monte "Crimson Krush" Carlo SS.

UPDATE! I don't own this car any more. It caught fire and burned from the firewall forward. So I parted it out and used some parts to make my clone '85SS. R.I.P.

It had a H.O. 305 with 163K on the clock when I got it and was gone by 170k which made way for the Speed-o-Motive long(6" Eagle)rod, crank, piston kit that I had ballanced, block bored to 360(.060 over) w/Sportsman heads. Probably looking at 9.1-9.5 in compression. Crane Hi-Intensity roller rockers,Edelbrock performer intake. I still have this engine and may live again in the clone.

It needed a nose (badly cracked), passenger side fender (bent and stretched) and had a few dings & dents besides that it was pretty straight. The total rust on the car is probably the size of my hand. Its been painted before but needed to be redone.
