FROM THE BACK COVER:
Lucinda Drakewyck, one of a long line of Drakewyck witches, has foreseen her own death. Desperate for answers, she calls upon the magic in her cherished crystal dove, hoping for visions of the warrior whose love would first save her then destroy them both. When wounded Crimean cavalry officer Richard Clairmont walks into her secret forest glen, Lucinda recognizes him as her promised hero. Destiny has determined that only he can rescue her from a ghastly fate, and yet Lucinda fights the attraction between them, knowing if they love, both their lives are forfeit.
Richard Clairmont doesn't believe in love, magic, or even himself. A captain in Her Majesty's Eleventh Hussars, he charged into the mouth of Hell and returned scarred forever. But from the moment he meets Lucinda Drakewyck, sunshine enters his life, throwing light on the shadows in his heart and making him question the possibility of magic. Together, they must stand against a malevolent presence and test the true power of their love.
REVIEW:
The hero and heroine are likeable characters and the villain is done very well. While she's always a threat to the other characters, Morgana herself comes across with many facets to her personality. I wouldn't have minded seeing more of her! I liked the characters and the interaction between them but I didn't like the way the paranormal aspect of this book was handled. To me it just wasn't very believable. I think if a person is a witch she would have practiced since she was a child, it would have just been natural for her, and she would have been more proficient. Of course given the time period I can understand why she may not have practiced more but the author didn't go into that aspect of it so you get the impression it wasn't that big of a problem. I would have liked more about when Lucinda first learned she was a witch and how it effected her. What she thought, felt and did about it. How her Uncle handled it, other than just ignoring it.
In my opinion it was an incomplete story. This book has gotten great reviews so I know I'm in the minority and as I say this is just my opinion.

Very GOOD
