REVIEW

Kenneth Chandler wants to buy Ray's Hamburgers from Scarlett Ray as part of a plan to own the entire block. When Scarlett refuses to sell her deceased mother's beloved diner, Chandler sends a thug to force her to sign over the restaurant. When she won't, he shoots her, leaving her to die so that his boss could buy the property at a state sale. While recovering in the hospital, Scarlett doesn't think the police will be able to protect her, since Chandler is a friend of the mayor. She then turns to stranger Jake Miscusi who she somehow knows will be there to protect her forever. A heavenly guardian, Jake feels guilt because his last two clients died in spite of his efforts. As he tries to keep her safe, Jake falls in love with his charge and willingly risks his eternal soul for his beloved Scarlett.

DARK ANGEL is a romantic suspense with paranormal elements. The romance is complicated with both knowing love for them is impossible, as he must return to heaven or go back to purgatory.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this book, it kept me reading but I don't think Jake was well enough defined. The hero and herione didn't have enough scenes together to suit me. He kept "blinking" in and out of Scarlett's life, not when she really needed him but after the fact and I feel this somehow deminished the story.

VERY GOOD
