Róisín Cahalan was born on June 11th and raised in Limerick, Ireland, where she trained at the Nolan School of Irish Dance for ten years and then at Scoil Rince Dal gCais under the direction of Anthony Costello. She is a five time Munster Champion and has placed in the top five at the All-Irelands and British Nationals, and her highest placing at the World Championships was 2nd!
After retiring from competition, Róisín attended the University of Limerick, where she earned a Bachelors degree in Business and a Postgraduate Degree in Computer Studies. Upon completion of her academic studies, she became a computer programmer in Dublin.
Róisín put her career on hold when she joined the Riverdance Liffey Company in August 1996. One year later she became an understudy and has received fantastic reviews from fans! She moved to the Lagan Company in January 1998 and returned to the Liffey Company in August 1998. She states that her most embarassing moment on stage was falling in "American Wake" right at the front of the stage.

Aside from dancing, Róisín enjoys travelling, photography, and reading. She also enjoys defending Limerick City from her fellow troupe members, which she says is a full-time job! Her favorite entertainers are John Malkovich and Prince. She stands at 5 feet and 3.5 inches tall.
In the near future, Róisín plans to continue dancing with Riverdance. She is currently back in the Lagan Company as Tara Barry's understudy. After she leaves the show she may return to computer programming or become an Irish dance teacher. She passed the teaching exams in November 1997!
