Tramping in New Zealand.

Tramping = walking in the outdoors. Usually it means carrying your clothes, food, sleeping bag and sometimes a tent. Some people call it bushwalking or hiking, but it's always called tramping in New Zealand.
Sometimes you have tracks - maybe even a road a 4 wheel drive vehicle could use. Sometimes you just have a direction like "downstream".

We aim to organise safe tramping, educational, entertainment and social activities for members; and to support other organisations dedicated to the protection of the outdoors.
We schedule day tramps every Wednesday and Sunday, and over long weekends, and occasionally additional overnight tramps during the weekends or weekdays. Day trips usually leave Christchurch around 8am and return around 6pm, but this varies with the season. We lead trips to Banks Peninsular, or to the nearby mountains of Arthur's Pass and Craigieburn.

North Shore Tramping Club.

The North Shore Tramping Club has a membership representing a broad cross section of age groups. The standard of tramping done by the club is representative of the areas we have access to. Most of the day trips will focus on the area surrounding Auckland City (ie Waitakere Ranges, Hunua Ranges) with longer day trips going to areas further afield (eg: Waikato area, Coromandel Ranges, Northland). Opportunity is also taken for coastal walks and family days to local reserves. Every attempt is made to arrange trips further afield around NZ and the longer public holidays usually mean a trip to some great tramping areas.
