ROAD MAP TO VICTORY 2016
The LCRCC was given a passing of the Flag oration by the new Executive Board, which included well deserved thanks to the Officers who will not be returning for their Past Service.
With however ONE GLARING OMISSION.
There is thanks to Don Nelson, Mary Ernzen and Jim Miller but deadening silence concerning someone who has served as a Former Chair as Treasurer more than once and this time for the last 4 years.
We were exhorted to put the past behind us and come together for the needed work of the Future
But not it seems without a Parting Slap in the Face to what is for almost one half of the membership one of our more respected members.
It would seem that it is WE who are supposed to Forgive and Forget and THEY who get to gloat and rub it in.
So as one of our hardest working volunteers told a few of us last Saturday Night,
We saw 5 minutes of mutual peace and then they started up again.
I mean we have a Webmaster posting on a LCRCC Facebook Fan Page that almost half the membership should be driven out of the Committee AND have a Co-Chair who Clicked LIKE to the Post?
It is true the Co-Chair later added this comment
I do appreciate ICU's forum, encouraging such dialogue.
Now we have this insulting announcement.

Dear Republican ,
Now that the elections are behind us, we have a job to do. 2016 elections will be upon us before we know it. We have a Straw Poll, 1st in the Nation Caucus, County, District & State Conventions, Primaries, and the all-important 2016 Presidential Election.
As the first order of business as the Chair, I want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Dr. Don Nelson and Mary Ernzen.
Don served diligently as Co-Chair for the last 2 years, taking the reigns when I was out of town and navigating through the rough waters of the Ad Hoc committee.
Mary served the LCRCC as Secretary for 4 years. She was elected in Dec 2010 and we learned the ropes together. Please thank them for their service when you see them.
I want to thank Jim Miller for so much time and effort spent during the last several months.
The second order is to welcome our new Executive Team. Brett Mason, Co-Chair, Gary Ellis, Secretary, and Robin Tucker, Treasurer. We are looking forward to serving you as we move forward in a positive direction.
2014 was a huge success because of the hard work of so many volunteers – to those who worked tirelessly for their favorite candidates, those who manned phones in the Victory office, door-knocked the neighborhoods, and the dozens who volunteered as poll watchers and Official Poll workers – THANK YOU.
2016 will require lots of hands to get the job done. What part do you want to play?

Problem In the LCRCC Found
I am moving this comment from a previous post for those who might have overlooked it.
Because I think it brings to light what the Main Problem in the LCRCC is.
In that post I asked some questions that I will now repeat.
I Question whether the Posts written by Mr Knox on the Linn County GOP Fan Page Are in Fact.
APPROPRIATE Linn County GOP Business
And I Call upon the New Leadership to RESPOND with Why it is appropriate if they do feel that way
Or
What they intend to Do about it
If they feel it is not appropriate.

GOP Business
It has been the policy of the Communications Sub-Committee to reserve the Linn County GOP Group Page for Republican Party Business in Linn County,
We saw the Group Page as a means of communication within the Committee of Local items.
The Linn County GOP Fan Page was seen as a very good method of acheiving a broader reach to those outside the Committtee the wider Republican and Conservative audience,
Which is Why I Question whether the Following Posts on the Linn County GOP Fan Page Are in Fact.
APPROPRIATE Linn County GOP Business and I Call upon the New Leadership to RESPOND with Why it is appropriate if they do feel that way or What they intend to Do about it if they feel it is not appropriate.
It is true that Mr Knox must have me blocked because when I went to the Linn County GOP Fan Page I did not see this but I have Loyal Readers who are willing to inform me and send me screenshots such as:
UPDATE: It would seem our New Co-Chair "likes" Mr. Knox's idea of purging ICU members from the LCRCC. So I guess that is the answer from ONE member of the Executive Board.
The Dark Side Of A Stag Party
Most people when they hear the word Stag think of a magnificent Male Deer with a head full of antlers.
But there is a darker side to the term Stag.
It is also a Bovine neutered after Sexual Maturity.
Which give an entirely different meaning to the event known as a Stag Party.
Friends of the ICU I do believe that we have all been invited to a Stag Party by the Webmaster of the LCRCC.
Today I had an old man ask (yelling it at me) when are does the purge begin. I had to laugh for many reasons but I prefer culling or neutering.
So not content with just driving us out of the LCRCC.
Are you willing to take more actions to stop this insanity? Are you willing to stand up to the bullies (like burglars of your organization and Republican Party) and toss them out the door locking them out?
I am, join me in this effort of calling them out and showing them the door for we need to focus upon 'Electing Republicans' and this includes removing permanently that which stands in the way of our unified goals!
He would like to Castrate us during the Process?
After the Officer's Election there WAS a Call for all of us to Get Along and concentrate on the Election of Republicans.
In my opinion someone needs to have a serious talk with Mr Knox on the meaning of the words
Get Along.
Now I KNOW that what he has suggested has been used in the past with domestic animals to make them more docile and keep them from wandering.
But I doubt that any member of the ICU will accept his aid.
We might even actively oppose his solution to our mutual problems.

Balance of Power
Yesterday one of the Illuminate posted a stirring call to Purify the LCRCC.
It has since been taken down. Perhaps it was decided that giving warning of an Impending Purge would be counter productive to a Sucessful Outcome.
The Gentleman last tried to rouse the Faithful to a Pogram against Godfathers.
One wonders how that is working for them?
In any event I was considering his attitude that the recent Election has given his Forces a Mandate to Sweep the House Clean.
As I recall there was NO vote on the Chair Election.
Our Candidate simply walked away from it.
A Voice vote was insisted upon denying the 3 people presiding over th Election their Right to Vote and denying anyone else of expressing their displeasure with a Write In Vote.
The vote tallys we do know about were
Co-Chair 35 to 28
Secretary 35 to 28
Treasurer 25 to 39
I could be mistaken but those are the totals I remember if I am mistaken there won't be but a vote or two difference,.
Add up the Votes for One Side and Compare it with the Votes for the Other,
You get? 95?
That's a dead split of voters for each side,
There is no way of Telling what might have happened to the Chair, the Co-Chair and the Secretary Elections if the other Candidate for Chair had stayed in the Election
Would it have increased or decreased either sides tally.
One thing is certain.
There is no mandate for driving the Unfaithful out of the Temple.
What we have looks more like a Mexican Stand Off.
SO if we want to get anything done this next year we better learn to get along
And calling for a Purge of almost half the membership?
Probably not the Best Start
The Purge Of The Party
Well it would appear the Purge is on.
No surprise they made that clear in the past
I think one statement was "Get with the Program or Move on." the other one was more to the point I think it was like the following,
We need to get rid of them,
Now it isMy friends of Linn County GOP I got to ask you this. If you knew there was a burglar knocking to enter your home through your front door, would you let them in knowing this?
Then why would you allow Iowa Conservative Union members participate in your organization? They have for the past 6 months or more publically published how they are working to 'destroy the LCRCC' and continual bashing all of you!
I ask you to give this some serious thought. You just voted in new officers, because you wanted this insanity to stop. Are you willing to take more actions to stop this insanity? Are you willing to stand up to the bullies (like burglars of your organization and Republican Party) and toss them out the door locking them out?
I am, join me in this effort of calling them out and showing them the door for we need to focus upon 'Electing Republicans' and this includes removing permanently that which stands in the way of our unified goals!
Going to be really interesting to see how he does that.
His exhortation in the past about how exactly I could be gotten rid of, illustrated only that he either never bothered to read the Constitution and By Laws or was completely Clueless about what they said,
First off the ICU contains a good portion of the hardest working volunteers who went through the Victory Office last time. The ones who made the most phone calls knocked on the most doors did the most Lit drops.
Some of them are already not very happy, I heard more than one time at the last LCRCC meeting these words,
"They are taking credit for what I did!"
Not a good idea to Purge the volunteers who do the most work. I mean if you do that, whose work are they going to take credit for?
Another thing is that the author of what he is complaining about is ME . Not any other member of the ICU.
And he has already called for my expulsion, Of course he never really bothered to either look at the portion of the Constitution he wanted to use or maybe it was that he just didn't bother to look at a calendar,
He accused me of violating the portion of the Constitution which says
"A member may be removed by the County Central Committee for inattention
to duty, incompetence, or active support
of an opponent of a Republican
nominee."
The problem was I did not start writing here until about November 19 which was 2 weeks after the Election was over,
So No opponent of a Republican Nominee, or even Repbulican Nominee no active support.
Kind of like his timeline here mistaking from the middle of November to the middle of Feburary as 6 months instead of 3 months,
Not certain whether Mr Knox is challenged in Literacy or Mathematics.
One last item we are REGISTERED REPUBLICANS
Mr Knox and his, what is the word they like to use about my friends? Oh yes ILK do not get to decide who gets ALLOWED to participae in the Republican Party in this County,.
Yes Yes I Know they WANT to but We are still a Nation of Laws and have a Constitution which still says Free Citizens can speak their minds.
Despite what Mr Knox may prefer.
Besides it is an out right LIE to say that I have been
" bashing all of you!"
I have only been bashing a very small percentage of THEM
Who IMO have been Violating the Constitution, By Laws and Rules of Order,.
As far as Purging us goes?
Well all I can say is
You come and get us Good Buddy.

It's A FUND Raiser
In My Last Post I spoke about a Chili Cook Off Fund Raiser.
One thing to remember is tha it is not REALLY Chili CookOff.
Those events go to great efforts to be Fair and ensure through Blind Taste Testing etc that the Best Chili Wins.
That is NOT what we do.
Our goal is to have FUN and Raise MONEY period.
Yes we always have some really good Chili and I enjoy tasting every one of the entries.
But a rigourous judging of quality is NOT the purpose.
A few years ago one of our Members noticed that it was possible to buy extra tickets.
He asked me if it would be Fair for him to buy a lot of tickets and vote on his Son's entry.
My reply was, "It's a FUND Raiser Dan!" "Here is a 5 dollar Bill, add that to what you were going to spend and let's Fix it so your Boy wins."
In other words
Do not take it too seriously,
Do not make it too complicated.
Try to see that everyone has FUN
And we Raise some MONEY 
The Definition Of Insanity
Of course doing the same thing over and over again is only a symptom of Insanity if the results are negative.
Over the years I and a few others have at times made what I like to think of as Field Trips to other Counties.
To show support for their Fund Raising Events to Network and Fellowship with other Repbublicans and
To see what works for them,
One thing I have noticed that is effective is Continuity.
For instance I know that around the end of July I will go to the Lee County Fund Raiser,
I and another friend have been going to it for years and they have had the same event about the same time for quite a few years longer than we have been attending.
Linn County has 6 times the population of Lee and we cannot even begin to compare.
What is the difference?
Continuity and refinement of the event by many years of analysis of what works.
Now Linn County DID have two events that were Baby Steps in the manner that Lee County uses.
We had a Spring Chili CookOff and a Christmas Party that had been built up to where we could expect several hundred to attend.
Both went down the tubes,
The Chili CookOff got moved to the Fall in an Election Year so it could compete with every candidates Fund Raising.
We also moved it to a venue where only about 20% of the usual attendence would fit into the building.
The Christmas Party fell victim to an attempt to Purify the Commitee. Which chopped attendance by about 80%
On top of the above we did nothing for 7 months of the year and then had 3 events one every other month the last 5 months.
I am not certain that was the best tactics for effective fund raising.
Now even further back in the past, say 4 Executive Boards ago things were better,
Back then we had about One Fund Raiser a Quarter and cleared about a thousand dollars each event.
Which compared very well the the Executive Board that came after that which had One Fund Raiser that kicked off with a Seed Donation of $900 and netted $600.
If you are thinking, But they LOST one third of their startup capital? You got it.
We start a New Year with a Executive Committe that but for one is new.
The Question is?
Are we going to go back to what worked?
Or are we going to continue to do what has not been working?
If we hear that there will be a Spring Chili CookOff thatg will be a VERY Good Sign.
Even though I knew it was going to be a Disaster I supported the last one,. I was 16% of the ticket sales
Because?
I really LIKE Chili and we have some good ones I look forward to tasting each year,
Now it is true we will not be able to go back to where we left off before last year.
That momentum is GONE.
But it can come back if we do what worked before.

Anger Found

As we can see in the last post which had the ideas of two commenters there are differences of opinion concerning the Form, Fit and Function of the Executive Committee and the Central Committee.
This was also illustrated in a comment made about the start of the last meeting.
Watching the tactics and stratigists attempt to alter
the meeting at the LCRCC, going to be a long night
I fear.
The problem here is an inability to comprehend the concept of "proposed".
This person seems to think that items like agendas or rules for Elections are what is supposed to happen and that any attempt to change them is an attempt to alter the meeting,
The Truth is NOTHING can happen in any form until the Body approves it,
And if you try to sneak in differences from what has been done in the past the Body may say NO.
They get testy when that happens.
Another problem arises when someone uses a definition of the term Executive taken from the Business world and NOT found in our supporting documents.
IE the County Constitution, ByLaws and Rules of Order
I have provided here links to Our Documents and Roberts Rules of Order on Officers Duties particularly Chairs and Presidents.
One thing that sticks out in Roberts Rules is the insistence that the Chair be NEUTRAL and Impartial it says
" The chairman sometimes calls a member to the chair and takes part in the debate. This should rarely be done, and nothing can justify it in a case where much feeling is shown and there is a liability to difficulty in preserving order. If the chairman has even the appearance of being a partisan, he loses much of his ability to control those who are on the opposite side of the question. There is nothing to justify the unfortunate habit some chairmen have of constantly speaking on questions before the assembly, even interrupting the member who has the floor. "
I thought about bringing up the portions of the ByLaws where it says that the Executives shall
" assist in the formulation of policies for the conduct of the affairs of the Republican Party and such other matters as may be assigned."
I even considered bringing up the Section of the Constitution where it says in Article VIII Executive Committee
"The Executive Committee is subject to the orders of the Linn County Central Committee, and none of its acts shall conflict with actions of the Linn County Central Committee."
And ask What Part of "Subject to the Orders" or None of its Acts Shall Conflict"
Do they fail to comprehend,
When I realized I really did not need to compile a reasoned and elegant logical argument
Because
I have TALKED to the person who WROTE those words and they mean Exactly what they SAY.
And they were written specifically to prevent abuses of power.
Of course it is true that the above may not be an obstacle to some people.
I recall years ago a friend telling me about a lecture in a Literature Clase the Proffesor was explaining what an author meant when one of the students raised there hand and said.
"Excuse me proffesor, but I interviewed that author for our student publication and that is not what he said it meant."
The proffesor explained that in their class they went into the DEEPER meanings of what literature meant.
But No I sit here with in the Words of W.C, Fields, the Calm Confidence of a Christian Holding 4 Aces secure in the knowledge that no line of logical reasoning no matter how elegant can prove that the people who wrote our Constitution and ByLaws did not know what the words they wrote meant.
