Samuel Adams

American Patriot & Politician

1722 - 1803

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Hot Issues From Linn County Iowa
Thursday, 29 April 2010
The Next Generation Will Vote Republican

You can forget about The Health Care Take Over

You can forget about  Cap and Trade, about Illegal Aliens and Voter Fraud

While these are Vital and Important Issues, there ARE some things which are

Sacred.

McDonald's 'Happy Meals' with toys banned
A county supervisor in California wants to ban Happy Meal toys and other similar treats that are given away with children's fast food meals.

This same county in Silcon Valley issued a law in 2008 that required chain restaurants to include a calorie count on their menus, which was later adopted by the state of California. And trends that start in California often spread to the rest of the nation.

Ken Yeager, the Santa Clara County Supervisor, is presenting a law at Tuesday's county board meeting to ban toys given away with unhealthy food. He believes the toys are used to encourage children to eat fatty, sugary, high-calorie meals that can lead to childhood obesity.

Yes when you start attacking Happy Meals and Ronald McDonald

You are going TOO FAR!!!!

And here I thought the Progressives were after the Young Vote.

When Mountains Move

They say if you can apply enough force, you can move mountains.

I have given some thought to this, as I come from People who really don't like being "moved" by outside forces that much.

I am Ani Yun Wiwa (Of the Total of All Real People)

My Great Aunt Ruby (who was a Medicine Woman) said to me when I was a boy, "Danny you just look White, NEVER forget that you are Really CHEROKEE."

If you know the History of my Ancestors you realize we REALLY don't like being moved.  If you don't, you can see why Here.

That's my Mother's side, mostly from Cherokee, Welsh and Irish Stock,

My Father's People come from the Mountains of Pennsylvania, Platt Deutch, Pennsylvania Dutch and Scots.

So I am descended from a rather stiff necked stubborn stock.

Which makes me by nature  Conservative.

It is not that my People cannot accept change its just that we think what is good enough for the North American Continental Plate is good enough for us.

A sedate Plate Tech tonic shift of say, 5 to 10 centimeters a year give one time to consider the direction and implications.

So it was with my own particular cultural matrix I listened to Iowa's National Committeeman expounding on some actions by our Party Leadership at the 2cd District Convention last Saturday.

You can find some information on that subject on the Iowa Independent website in

Iowa’s Scheffler supports GOP ‘purity test’

Iowa Christian Alliance President and Republican National Committee member Steve Scheffler is among 10 co-sponsors of a resolution being circulated that aims to impose a conservative litmus test on potential GOP candidates.

The resolution, dubbed a “purity test” by the media, became public Monday. It lists 10 positions Republican candidates should support to demonstrate that they “espouse conservative principles and public policies” that are in opposition to “Obama’s socialist agenda.” Any Republican candidate who breaks with the guidelines of the resolution on three or more of these issues would be penalized by being denied party funds or the party endorsement.

Mr Scheffler mentioned the New York Politician Dierdre Scozzafava as an example.  What he failed to mention was that it was the Voters who rejected her and the Party Leadership there which chose her.

Also not mentioned was the peculiar case of Senator Arlen Specter who did not seem to have much of a problem with the Republican Party LEADERSHIP, but was quick to jump ship when it became apparent that the Voters were probably going to reject him in the next Primary.

It is for those reasons along with my Native Conservative Nature that I feel that any "Litmus Test" needs to be left in the hands of the Party Membership and not entrusted to the Party Leadership, who have been sorely failing in that area.

The only Litmus Test I can in good conscience support is that rendered by the VOTERS in a PRIMARY.

Most of us are Adults and WE can decide for OURSELVES who we want to represent US.

The Party Leadership does not seem to have a good track record in this area anyway.

To go back to what I started this with I think it is true, if you apply enough force you CAN move mountains,

I also think the Political Class in this country HAS applied that force, but perhaps unwittingly, and the Mountains of the Poltical Desires of the Body Plolitic ARE on the move.

There are two other truths, if the Mountians Move, you had best be going in the same direction as they are or get out of their way.

IMO Mr Scheffler has not taken these truths to heart and feels that he can LEAD us in the direction HE chooses.

Tax Slavery Day

This just in

By overwhelming majority, the people who  responded to my inquiry about where to hold the April 15th tax slavery protest have voted to take our protest to the state run silent media. so with that said, we will be holding out lunch hour protest at the corner of green square park and the KCRG/Gazette building, 11:30 am 12:30 pm. on Thursday April 15th 2010.

Bring your signs, your voice and your outrage.

MAP here

facebook group here

tea party patriots site

Let the state run media outlets know that we will no longer tolerate their poor  "reporting" and slanted headlines made to cover up an unpopular President, Governor and legislature. headlines like this pretty much sums up the fine job our Iowa media outlets are doing.

I know a lot of people are working, but if we wait until late in the day, we have no chance of getting any media exposure.

See you there and as always, spelling and grammar mistakes are mine !
Jeremy
www.CrTeaParty.org

Now some may think this is Hyperbole, for them I present the following to mull over

Whenever there is talk of Tax Cuts the Left gets hysterical about what the Republicans are "giving" to the Rich.

Set aside for the moment that average hardworking American Families will also get tax buts.

Consider the concept of a Tax Cut as GIVING someone money.

Let me put it in simpler terms. Say in the form of a Word Problem such as we might have worked in Grade School

If John sticks a gun in Richard's face and has him empty the $100 dollars Richard has in his wallet into John's hands but does NOT (because he did not know about it) have him hand over the $200 Richard has stuck down in his boot.

How much money did  John GIVE to Richard???

Now MY answer is NOTHING, not ONE RED CENT was given to Richard by John.

The Progressive Left would do this calculation differently.

Just think 100 years or so during the rise of Unionism, Socialism and Marxism, the Left spoke fervently about the Right of the Workers to the Proceeds of their Labor.

But it is now the 21st Century and the Progressive Left has a New Paradigm.

The Proceeds of YOUR Labor is now the Common Property of Mankind and anything that the Collective leaves to you is the GIFT of the Benevolent State,

If you disagree with those concepts join your fellows on April 15 and exercise your Right to

peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And if anyone should have the gall to tell you that what you are doing just shows how Racist you are?

Just look confused and say, "But Marxism is not a Race."

HIDDEN IN THE BILL!

Unbelievable - Harry Reid Hidden deep in the Health Care Bill this passage.
They never stop, they will keep trying to shove this down our throats until they get it through... pass on to everyone...

The impudent tyranny of Sen. Harry Reid
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada is proving once again... the maxim that darkness hates the light. ... See More
Buried in his massive amendment to the Senate version of Obama care is Reid's anti-democratic poison pill designed to prevent any future Congress from repealing the central feature of this monstrous legislation!

Beginning on page 1,000 of the measure, Section 3403 reads in part: ". it shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection."
In other words, if President Barack Obama signs this measure into law, no future Senate or House will be able to change a single word of Section 3403, regardless whether future Americans or their representatives in Congress wish otherwise!!

Note that the subsection at issue here concerns the regulatory power of the Independent Me dicare Advisory Board (IMAB) to "reduce the per capita rate of growth in Me dicare spending."

That is precisely the kind of open ended grant of regulatory power that effectively establishes the IMAB as the ultimate arbiter of the cost, quality and quantity of health care to be made available to the American people. And Reid wants the decisions of this group of unelected federal bureaucrats to be untouchable for all time.

No wonder the majority leader tossed aside assurances that senators and the public would have at least 72 hours to study the text of the final Senate version of Obama care before the critical vote on cloture. And no wonder Reid was so desperate to rush his amendment through the Senate, even scheduling the key tally on it at 1 a.m., while America slept.
True to form, Reid wanted to keep his Section 3403 poison pill secret for as long as possible, just as he negotiated his bribes for the votes of Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Bernie Sanders of Vermont behind closed doors.

The final Orwellian touch in this subversion of democratic procedure is found in the ruling of the Reid controlled Senate Parliamentarian that the anti repeal provision is not a change in Senate rules, but rather of Senate "procedures." Why is that significant?

Because for 200 years, changes in the Senate's standing rules have required approval by two thirds of those voting, or 67 votes rather than the 60 Reid's amendment received.

Reid has flouted two centuries of standing Senate rules
to pass a measure in the dead of night that no senator has read, and part of which can never be changed. If this is not tyranny, then what is?

DON'T SIT BY AND LET THIS HAPPEN IN THE DARK!!! FORWARD TO EVERYONE ON YOUR LIST!

Pelosi: we have to pass the health care bill so that you can find out what is in it

Slaughtering the Constitution
It would appear that the House is really uneasy about actually voting on Obamacare again so they are just going to PRETEND that they voted to pass a bill.

This tactic is called the Slaughter Rule and I think that is what it does to the Constituion.

Nancy Pelosi explains to the American Public why it is so important to do this.

from the Washington Post
House may try to pass Senate health-care bill without voting on it

After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate's health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the health-care bill to be passed.

PJTV has a dynamic discussion on this issue with which I am in total accord

The Turtle And The Scorpion
As the story is told, the river was rising in Flood.

A scorpion and a turtle were trapped on an island.

The turtle decided to try to swim to the shore.

The scorpion asked the turtle to let him ride on his back.

"No way" replied the turtle, "you will sting me."

"That would be insane." answered the scorpion, "We would both die then."

Seeing the logic, the turtle let the scorpion on his back.
When they were halfway to safety the scorpion stung the turtle.

"Why did you do that?" the turtle cried as he sank below the waves.

"It is my nature." the scorpion called back,
"It is what scorpions do, you KNEW that when you let me on your back!"

I thought about this story, when I heard that Christopher Reed had been told that his Social Conservative credentials were lacking and that a substantial PAC of Social Conservatives would be putting forth their own candidate for Iowas Second Congressional District.

One of the first thoughts that popped into my mind was.

This will help Miller-Meeks.

That was reinforced when I saw this Poll on  a Website.

Now all Polls can be subjective.
What makes this one interesting is that it is on a website run by a Social Conservative.

The same person, I am informed who broke the news to Mr Reed that he was lacking as a Social Conservative, and who was seen recently gathering signatures for the Petition of the new candidate.

The second thing that popped into my mind was:

In what Universe is Christopher Reed not completely and without any reservations whatsoever NOT committed to the Cause of Social Conservatism??

Look at the Poll.

A few things are crystal clear.

This new event is not going to hurt Miller-Meeks.

The arrival of a second Social Conservative Candidate, from the SAME locale, Marion,  cannot accomplish anything but split the ranks of Social Conservatives.

Call me an untrusting paranoid, but I, to paraphrase Shakespeare,

Smell something Rotten in the State of Iowa.

The Chair's Decision Is Not Subject To Question

That might be called

"How to Chair a Meeting Jack Murtha Style"

Those who viewed the above video might be thinking, "That is Wrong"

In my opinion they would be correct.

My opinion, however is not universal, there are some who deem that is exactly how to Chair  a Meeting.

I recall experience a sense of confusion during the times I witnessed the Chair of the Republican Party State Convention, refusing to recognize Calls for Division, or saw a County Chair refusing to recognize an Appeal of the Chair's decision. Numerous occasions during County meetings when questioners were met by a declaration, of Out of Order by Fiat.

My thinking got foggy and I wondered, "How did I get into a meeting run the way Progressive Liberal Democrats run them?"

I mean I THOUGHT I was in a meeting held by the Republican Party, but what was happening was NOT what I thought the Republican Party stood for.

I have certain concepts that I hold Sacred

One: The Foundation of Democracy is respect for the Will of the Electorate, with due consideration for the Rights of the Minority and limited by Constitutions, By-Laws, Rule of Order, which spell out the Powers of the State and Rights of Individuals and those areas in which the State,

MUST NOT INFRINGE.

Two: That Constitutions, By-Laws, Rules of Order have MEANING.  They mean what they SAY and not what someone WISHES they mean.
There are those who think that Constitutions are Living, Pliable Documents that can be altered in definition to fit a desired outcome.

They feel that matters of import are best left to an elite who know what is best and the rest of us should sit quietly until they make our decisions for us and tell us what we should do.

That we should submit to Centralized Control of Society.

In my opinion, this attitude permeates our National, State and Local Government and must be challenged and changed.

For us here locally, I think we need to start by cleaning our own house,

If not here, where?

If not now, when?

What are YOUR thoughts??
