Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

When They Have No Ideas Of Their Own
Topic: Out of Flyover Land
I don't read DailyKos much, but at times I like to meander over to that website and be reminded WHY, a man whose Grandfather's name, was Stonewall Jackson Puckett, dropped a Party affiliation that had been unbroken in his family since the Dawn of the Republic and LEFT the Democratic Party.

It is really Sad in a way, I completely identified with Zell Miller, when he said in his speech, "I did not Leave the Democratic Party, they left me."

Here is what I found, that reminded me WHY I became what is called a Neo-Con

"For example, while I am skeptical of a short term strategy that can deliver significant wins for Dems in the South, the medium and long term offer opportunities. But I think they come from the devolution strategy that Howard Dean is trying to execute, creating strong state Democratic parties that control their own local message. National branding still requires a national message and, more importantly, negative branding of the Republicans."

(emphasis added by me)

Like I say, it IS so SAD. JFK and some of the other GREAT names in the History of our Nation and the Democratic Party were never forced to resort to negative branding of the Republicans." as the most Important Part of their message.

The was a time the Democratic Party stood FOR something and instead of only AGAINST things, there was a time when it had Leaders who said things like

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge—and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do—for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.

To those new States whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom—and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.

To those peoples in the huts and villages across the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required—not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."

I don't feel like I have to negative brand the Party of Kerry, Clinton, Pelosi and Dean, they have done a far better job than I ever could.

I stand for THIS
