Rights or Peace?

All characters property of WEP.

This fanfic takes place in the VOLTRON: THE THIRD DIMENSION series. I got the idea for this fanfic after watching the VOLTRON VS DRACOTRON episode; "Would the cost of peace mean having Allura marrying Lotor?" This is my idea of a VTD episode. Mentionings of minor characters are my own and will be seen again in an upcoming fic. Enjoy!

"Lotor is attacking Planet Yaul. Begin lion launch sequence now."commanded Keith. The lions were launched a few seconds later. "Head toward PlanetYaul."

"Again? Lotor already attacked that place. Why again? We've already defeated his forces there. Why the repeat performance? " retorted Lance.

"Probably to reminisce the experience, Lance. Who cares why he's attacking there again. The point is he's disturbed the peace of the universe yet again. It's our job to stop him, not understand him." answered Allura, quite angrily.

"Like Allura said, shut your porktrap and prepare to fight." ordered Keith.

How come no one is in the mood for jokes? We used to always joke around before a battle. Why the craving for silence? Lance thought; but did as he was told, for once.

"Here we are team; Planet Yaul." said Keith

Yet again. thought Lance.

"About time they show up. I was getting impatient." Lotor yelled.

"Why here? There is nothing worth taking, except the Lions." asked Hagar.

"Who said I was after the planet or the Lions? The one I want is Allura."

"Some reason to start an attack"

"Silence witch! Just send out the robeast and separate Allura from the force. NOW!"

"Don't forget, any failure is YOUR fault."

"I said DO IT NOW!"

The robeast exited The Revenge and instantly homed in on Blue Lion.

"Some robeast. It's just a griffin. We can easily defeat him without Voltron." remarked Pidge.

"I don't think that's his purpose, guys . . ." started Keith.

The robeast then charged and separated Blue Lion from the Lions. Allura tried to stay ahead but almost instantly was captured.

"Your mine at last." Lotor shouted, "Bring her to me."

"I don't think so, Lotor. Lion Claw!" fumed Keith.

Black Lion decapitated the robeast quickly and freed Blue Lion. The Revenge fled afterward.

"Like I said, easy pheasy oh-so-easy." responded Pidge.

After a short laughter period Hunk asked where he had heard such a phrase."My friend Meg back on Balto loved using the phrase. I guess I picked it up from her. She said she got it from her cousin on Arus, Christine."

"Arus, huh. We'll have to look her up one day. She sounds quite the character." Lance commented.

"Don't get ideas, Lance. She's none to interested in Voltron."

"Come on gang; Let's head home" Keith ordered; abruptly ended the conversation.

"Again it happened. So close! WHY!?" Lotor pathetically asked no one in particular.

"Because you get too distracted by the Princess. You are ruining our chance of conquest by running after her all the time. What is the point!?" questioned Hagar.

Lotor said nothing in response, which scared Hagar pretty badly. He motioned for her to leave, so she did so in quite a hurry. He sent out a message to Galaxy Garrison.

When the team got back to the castle, Amalgamus was waiting for them on the viewscreen. "It's about time you got back" retorted Amalgamus.

Everyone expected getting chewed out for going to the site without his permission. "I have just received a peace treaty from Lotor himself. He has told me personally that he will give me the location of Castle Doom and end his empire for good in exchange for Princess Allura's hand in marriage. I have told him it was her decision to make and that she would give him her answer."

All eyes turned to Allura, who now had the question of universal peace on her shoulders. She was too stunned to speak.

"She will give you her answer in three days." Coran responded.

"I strongly encourage you accept this offer. It is the only way to ensure universal peace. Over and out." Amalgamus replied before leaving the viewscreen.

"How can Amalgamus expect me to do something like this?"

"I don't know Princess. There's no other way. We may have to give in to Lotor's demands." Keith said wearily.

"What?!" After all of the trouble we went through protecting her from this creep we have to hand her over like a sack of beans? Not on your life Keith. She's staying right her where she belongs." Lance put in his two bits.

"Yeah!" Hunk and Pidge agreed.

"This is not your decision to make. It is Allura's and Allura's alone." Coran told them.

"I will need time to think this over."

"As I have told Amalgamus you have three days."

"I will have my answer by then."

Later on, Allura went to the archives to adjure her father's advice. "Father, what should I do? Universal peace is my hands, but it requires me marrying Lotor. I must decide between the good of my people or what I feel is right. What should I do?"

Alfor wanted to give advice but he knew someone else was with Allura. He decided to let the intruder give the advice.

"I think you should . . . go to Lotor." Keith spat out the words.

"Why? So I can satisfy his sick yearnings? You know what he'd do to me, Keith. I don't think that's worth universal peace."

"Remember what happened last time we came close to universal peace? It lasted five years. Five years. With you with him it could last a lot longer."

"But . . ."

"A princess has to put her people before herself. Go to him." With that Keith started to leave.

Allura couldn't stand it. "I thought you cared about me, Keith! If you did as sure as Arus you would never tell me to marry him. Lance, Hunk, and Pidge aren't forcing me to go through with it. Neither is Coran. I know they care. Think of before, Keith. Back when Lotor was human. You always were the first to my rescue if Lotor had me. You were the one who insisted I pilot Blue Lion after Sven was injured. You put up with Nanny just so you could keep me on the team. When Lotor 'killed' me, the team told me you broke down in tears even after you knew it was a trick. Our last battle before the period of peace, you were the one who saved me from Hagar. You fought your way through your worst nightmare just to save me. (The last battle is Fleet of Doom. All references of it came from Shannon Muir's description for I have not seen it yet. Thanks Shannon!) So why now, are you insisting I marry Lotor? After everything we've been through together, why must you give me up to a madman? Please Keith, I know you still care."

"I saved you because you're the only ruler of Arus, Princess." Keith said coldly as he walked out the door.

On the third day Allura had her decision.

"I'll marry Lotor." She told Amalgamus and the team.

"Good choice. Universal peace is guaranteed!" Amalgamus rejoiced.

"WHAT?! How dare you go to him. You have no idea what he'll do to you!"

"I know what he's going to do, Lance. I've been told I have to do it. It's for good of my people."

"But it's not good for you or us. How are we supposed to go on, knowing you're with Lotor!" Hunk finished.

"Who's going to pilot Blue Lion?" Pidge inquired.

"I imagine the Voltron Force will be disbanded again. If not, you're going to have to find someone else to pilot Blue Lion."

"Who told you you have to do it?" Coran asked.

"Keith."

"He'll pay for this." Lance muttered.

"Lotor's ship is here for you." Coran looked at the monitor.

"I'm going." She turned to her friends. "Goodbye."

"Goodbye." They replied in unison.

Allura left and entered Lotor's ship.

Months passed. The Voltron Force wasn't disbanded for Amalgamus stated that there still was a threat about. They practiced as usual but something was missing other then Blue Lion. They had received nothing about the condition of Lotor, Hagar, Queequeg, Lafite, or Allura. They didn't attack anymore. Rumors were going around saying Hagar left Lotor after he captured Allura and went back to the Dream Dimension and how Lotor disappeared with Allura and Castle Doom.

Everyone seemed downhearted without Allura. The sadness sank in until Lance couldn't stand it anymore, "Keith's gonna pay for giving Allura to Lotor." He ran to Red Lion and took off.

"Lance, get Red Lion down to Arus." Keith ordered over the telecom.

"No sir! I'm making up for your mistake. I'm going to find Allura and bring her back home, where she belongs!" With that he sped off to space.

"I hope they shoot him out of the sky." Keith muttered to himself. Then Green and Yellow Lion took to the sky.

"Now where are you two going?"

"Same as Lance." Then they took off.

"Idiots. They're never going to find her." Then Black Lion followed them.

* * * * *

They found the Revenge at the edge of the Universe.

"I'm tired of playing pussy-foot with you, pal." Lance said as he rammed into the ship.

"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!" Lotor demanded.

"It's the Voltron Force! They came for me!" Allura shouted above the noise.

Yellow Lion shot a capsule down to her. She got in and Yellow pulled her in to safety.

"SHE WAS MINE!" Lotor whined as the Lions tore apart his ship. The Revenge exploded as the Lions high-tailed it out of there.

"Do you think he's finally gone?" Pidge asked.

"He escaped every life-threatening situation he's been through. He must've found someway to escape." Keith spoke the truth.

"Let's head home." Lance ordered.

* * * * *

Amalgamus was quite peeved when he found out what happened. "We had peace! Why did you blow it?"

"You kept the Voltron Force in commission because Lotor was still a possible threat. You said so yourself that this universe was still in danger. Don't you get it? Only when Lotor is dead is this Universe safe from all harm." Lance only spoke the truth. "It's a long road to peace, Amalgamus. It's not going to happen immediately. That road was started the minute Voltron was reactivated. Although Lotor is back and has it in for us all, we have made a lot of progress since then. This universe will see peace, Amalgamus one day they will see peace. Voltron will keep on fighting to that day and, if me and the team don't see it, he will."

He cut the line between them. He wanted Amalgamus to think good and hard about what he had said.
