I Want You

('I Want You': part 22)

"Karl, have you seen Daniel?"
"Today? No. Isn't he in the room with *you*?"
Darren paused, thinking of what to tell his bandmate without sounding like he was lying. "Uh ya he was, then he said he was going out, but i don't know where he went"
Karl Sighed. "Dazzy, don't worry about it. Knowing Dan, he'll be back within the hour"
"Alright, Karl. Thanks" Hanging up the phone, he sighed. (Karl says he'll be back within the hour, but somehow i don't think he will) he thought sadly. Tears stung his eyes as Daniel's words echoed clearly in his mind: 'Goodbye Darren. Goodbye forever'
God, he had never meant to hurt Daniel like that. He was just so confused and scared about the whole ;more than friends' issue going on, that without realizing it, he chased his best friend away.
He couldn't beleive what Daniel had said: 'I knew that you could have never loved me. It's not as if i'm anything special to you'
Could he have really meant all of that? What Ben was saying *had* been true?
"Oh my God" he said sadly as he buried his face with his hair. "Nothing special to me? God Daniel, you're the most special person i *have* right now....what can i do to bring you back?" he said, crying. "Where have you gone to?"

There was a knock at Oliver's door.
"Be there in a minute" he said as he towel dried his hair. When he opened the door, Darren was standing there, but looking different; not his usual 'i'm-so-hyper-i-could-burst self'
"Hey Darren, come on in" he said with a smile.
Darren nodded, then stepped into the room.
"You wanna take your coat off?" asked Oliver.
"No, i'm fine thanks" he replied abruptly, which struck Oliver as strange.
"So, what can i do for you, Darren?"
Darren sighed, running his fingers through his hair, a habit he did whenever he was stressed out. "Um, i was just wondering if you've seen Daniel around lately?"
"Well he was a few hours ago, but then he left for your room to get some sleep....something had been bothering him, but he wouldn't tell me what it was....typical Daniel" he said, shaking his head.
Darren raised his eyebrows. "Something was bothering him?"
"Ya, he was acting very quiet and sulky. Well, when i had dropped by your room when i first arrived in LA, i could tell that he had been crying" Darren said nothing.
"Was he acting that way with *you*?"
"Um, not really. He had ordered a cup of tea for me because was upset earlier, and he *appeared* to be alright. Smiling and all"
Oliver shrugged. "Like i told him, maybe he just needs more rest before shows. I think it's all getting to him"
"Ya, maybe you're right. But, i haven;t seen him for over an hour now"
Oliver nodded casually. "He'll be back soon, Darren. Don't worry about it"
Darren forced a smile. "Alright Oli, thanks. I'll see ya around" he said opening the door. "Oh, and thanks for flying in to see us"
Oliver smiled. "No problem. Let me know when Daniel gets back, ok? Just to be safe"
"I will" he said, closing the door behind him, silent tears dropping from his eyes. (Oh please, Daniel, come back soon) he prayed as he made his way back up to his room.

It was 10:27pm, and Daniel was now off the bus, walking through the crowded streets of L.A.
The air was quite cold and the breeze caused him to shiver slightly.
He knew he was bound to catch a cold soon, but was too upset to care.
All that ran through his mind over and over were the last angry words he heard from Darren.
He ended up checking into the nearest hotel so that he wouldm't have to go back to where the rest of the band was, where he's have to smile and act as though nothing was wrong.
The room he was staying in had one bed that was fairly hard, a small window that overlooked a large empty parking lot and a bathroom.
(God, they don't even have a tv in here!) he thought angrily as he sat down on the creaky bed. "Oh, and the bed makes noise too. This should be fun" he said outloud in a sarcastic tone.
Immediately he stood up and began to make the bed for the night.
He didn't even have a clean change of clothes to wear for tomorrow. It was a miracle that he had even had the cash on him to rent this room.
He then took a hot shower and put the same clothes back on that he had been wearing all day.
Glancing at the phone on the bureau, he had the biggest urge to pick it up, call his mom and tell her everything that was going on, but he knew he couldn't tell her what he felt for Darren, the man he had known for 6 and a half years, and loved for so long.
Again, he began to cry loudly, wishing he were dead and way from all his pain.
That night, he cried himself to sleep.

well that's no good
